Just wondering in your opinion are the best gasket/thread goo/s to use to:
(1) Seal valve covers to heads (2) Seal intake to block/heads (3) Seal carb to intake (4) To put on the threads of intake temp. sending unit etc.
Thanks, Darryl

(1) Seal valve covers to heads - Permatex Ultra Black RTV Gasket Maker to hold gasket to the valve cover in a few spots, nothing on the head side.
(2) Seal intake to block/heads - Permatex Ultra Black RTV Gasket Maker to hold gasket to head in a couple spots, and in the corners where gasket meets rubber gasket on the ends. Nothing on the intake side.
(3) Seal carb to intake - gasket only.
(4) To put on the threads of intake temp. sending unit etc. - white teflon tape. I've tried to use pipe dope, but it was a bit messy, and didn't look near as good as teflon tape. Make sure to use enough tape to go around the male end twice, and wrap it the right way so when you screw the male end in it doesn't start to unwrap.

(1) Seal valve covers to heads - weatherstrip adheasive a.k.a. 'yellow death' to hold gasket to the valve cover all around, nothing on the head side.
(2) Seal intake to block/heads - Permatex RTV (whatever color I happen to have, prefer black) in the corners where gasket meets rubber gasket on the ends. Nothing on the intake side.
(3) Seal carb to intake - gasket only.

Just wondering in your opinion are the best gasket/thread goo/s to use to:
(1) Seal valve covers to heads Very light bead of GM contact cement.
(2) Seal intake to block/heads Throw away the end gaskets, use silicone. Gasket, just enough contact cement to hold it in place to install.
(3) Seal carb to intake Dry
(4) To put on the threads of intake temp. sending unit etc. Tiny amount of pipe sealant. Some say teflon tape insulates it, defeating the purpose of the sender.

Thanks for all the replies! It's always good to get a 2nd., 3rd., 4th., opinion (especially when it comes to brain surgery).
