I finally had a chance to pull all the factory wrappings off my new Super Duty. Beautiful, until........................................uh-oh........................ it's an automatic and I ordered it with the iron case Super T10... What will I do now?
Do you think maybe I can get Pontiac Motor Division to ship it to Royal Pontiac and get Milt and the boys to put one in there under warranty?
Hey, wait a minute. I bet this one slipped out of engineering and it wasn't supposed to. I bet I have a prototype here. It's got 3 pedals AND a ratchet shifter! I bet it's a clutch for launching and clutch packs for shifting. Wow, I bet I got a rare rare Pontiac here!

I removed it from the stand and checked. It's an automatic. I know for sure this is a one of one prototype. I bet if Barrett Jackson hears I have this car my phone won't quit ringing...

From I have been reading 4 speed auto with a clutch is what they had.
On December 12 and 13 six LeMans coupes were built minus radio, heater, and sound deadening. Aluminum front clips were added, and 421 Super Duty engines installed. Pontiac engineers created a heavy-duty "Powershift" 4-speed automatic transaxle that included a 10.6" clutch for launching off the line.

I got one similar to that. Little bigger though. But here is the one i liked.
Ahnuld, that's Bill Blair's car, right?
If so, I saw that car at the POCI convention in North Carolina in 1986. Cool car....
yes that is bills car, worth a few considering it was a prototype. don't forget the starter is in the trunk also, and yes it spun the driveshaft to start the car. And there is the release bearing at the back. this is the one that the ebay owner has now but not in it.

I am glad to see you are feeling better, a super duty will do that to you. I will have a race for you this summer...lol
