One of my good friends here in Kelowna sold his red L-79 a little over a year ago for 32 to a guy in Alberta. I saw it at the High River show last fall, it was right across the street from our Iron Indian guys from Calgary. Also have seen it on some of Ken's pictures from Calgary. It was a show winner out of the States and is as nice as any one I've ever seen. We all know you can't go from that price to 32 but someone has to if we are going to preserve these cars.

Watched abit of B-J reruns last night, & they commented that "RARE" or very low production #'s don't mean it's "high dollar" Car. They had a Buick Grand National, think it was an 86. Only had 9,800 mi. on it, 1 of 137 built [FWD ] They kept stopping the auction as the bids weren't there, trying to boost the bids,to no availl, think it brought 17G the one before was the RWD & brought over 30 grand!1 Think their right, it has to be a desirable car to start with[ which this is,but is it worth the resto costs]

That's a quick little car you have in your avitar Randy, Any mods?

it's got the full Super 60 package. Turbo, head, cam, intercooler etc., not the latest technology as I built it up in 1997 after keeping it stock for the first 11 yrs. Time for a refresh. However I have owned many, many Canadian Pontiacs, Acadians and Beaumonts over the years along with other assorted muscle cars. My last and much missed was a 1967 Strato Chief 2 dr sedan that I drove and bracket raced for a number of years. Sure wish I would have kept it!!

Thanks
Randy

I wish this sell because it's too tempting. I keep on trying to go through a way to tell my wife that I own another and it doesn't work. Would somebody find me a complete EC L79 motor so I quit looking.

Cool. Needs a "little" work but it's a cool car. How did the pcv system work on a 65 L79? Was it like the 66/67 with a pcv valve in the line to the oil fill tube or was it on the back vent like the 275 hp engines?

As I remember there was a hose from the rear of the engine, where the road draft tube used to reside, to the base of the air cleaner. This was to allow filtered fresh air to enter the crankcase. The oil fill tube had a hose running to the left side of the Holley. This hose attached to a brass  "metered orifice" that sucked vapours from the crankcase into the carb as part of the air/fuel mixture. Like a PCV this system drew contaminated air from the crankcase and allowed fresh air to replace it. Only early Holleys used the metered orifice system. All other carbs and later Holleys used a PCV valve, sometimes screwed into the oil fill tube or inline with the hose to the rear where the road draft tube used to be. By 1968 the valve covers had holes to allow the crankcase to breathe so there was no longer a vent hole at the rear of the block

Thanks
Randy

Interesting. I was curious how that worked. If you look in the picture of this car it is how you described it. After road draft and before pcv? I have most of the parts for a 66/67 L79 but the 65 was a different animal.

65 SSSD, I was on the phone last night with a guy in Connecticut.  I mentioned about Beaumonts and he tells me the story of an L79 Beaumont he bought about 25 years ago in upstate NY.
(The owner was down from Ontario)
He stripped the car for the powertrain and scrapped the rest. He put the running gear in a 55 Chevy and eventually sold it. The guy that bought the car from him still has it, with supposedly all that original running gear in it. I'm going down to see this guy in Connecticut around May timeframe. Do you want me to see if the 55 is available?

You can always ask. It all comes down to the dollar amount. The EC motor doesn't have to be from a Beaumont because the suffixes decode the same on the L-79 motors Canadian or not. A chevelle one would work too. I'm hoping to find one close. Would you be interested in the 55 rolling chasis?

If you can get the running gear only that would be better of course. Maybe I didn't understood your post.
