A few more of mine and a much nicer one (also with the steering wheel on the correct side) that sold recently in the UK.

This is how my old 64 409 probably looked before it was crushed. I think the engine was taken out then scrapped.

...did any of you guys notice that a number of the Custom Sports here (including ours) don't have the colour-matching headlight bezels? Where did they go? Did most of them just get lost or swapped out? They were standard on the CS's eh, not an option? Just seems strange that that many would get lost/swapped/removed etc.. I'll be honest - I never knew that colour-matched bezels came on the CS's..and I'm sure they're damn near impossible to find now...

Here is a photo of my first '64  CS Pontiac (photo taken at a show by CP member AFTER I'd sold it) photo circa 2008

my old 64.JPG

I restored this car when I was 17.  I spend every spare waking second under the hood and all my paychecks went to restoring it.  (In the days before reality\ responsibility\and payments ,... what a time it was!  wink.gif
I rebuilt the original 283 with a few mods ,..heads,. etc,. nothing wild)  Only factory option,.. tilt wheel.
After selling,... it wound up with a great owner,. who looks after it.  Today,.. it looks almost the same as it did after I poured major bucks into it.  Current owner enjoys taking it to a lot of car events in Manitoba.

BTW,.. in response to previous post,.. yes,.. I too was one who ripped off the color matching headlight bezels and slapped on chrome ones,.. in the day when more chrome was always better.  I do have the painted originals,.. which are now my only momentos of the the $$ sweat and bloody knuckles I put into her.   (The painted bezels now make great photo frames smile.gif

Lots of British '64s here:

http://www.pontiacuk.com/id67.html

Most of the Canadian ones are near the bottom end of the page. There's even a fuzzy pic of mine when it was white many years ago.

Mine still has the original painted, two-piece bezels.
Roger Rabbit was first to point out the difference to me.
To be honest, I prefer the chrome, one-piece, base model bezels to the painted ones. I'm sure that is why they were switched-out by many people ... they look better.

I kind of prefer the base model grill over the CS grill also.

Had it for many years did nothing to it. Sold it, would have kept it if it was a Custom Sport.

Here's my current '64. Not much to look at. But ,. it was a 4 dr hard top that I wanted,. in this exact color.  I brought it from a guy in Lethbridge Alberta in '09.  What gave me the nudge to purchase this one , was it has virtually no rust.  When I got under the car for a look,. it was unbelievable.  No holes whatsoever! Even the car carrier who loaded it remarked about the amazing condition this car was in.  The interior has sun damage.,.but it's tolerable.    Secondly,.. the car was "untouched".  I'm not that inspired when I see someone else's attempt at  restoration,.,.or there's wires hanging under the dash.  This car was ALL original.  It has 1 option,..tilt steering.  It was parked in the early 90s.  It was sold to one other owner before I bought it.

The speed of restoration is not that quick.   AS we all know,.. time and money are the variables.
Future plans,.. intstallation of rebuilt 409 which I have.  Not much else.  I'd just like to make it a family cruiser,.. go camping with etc.  Maybe a wedding car for our daughter someday.

Here is my 1964 Parisienne 283 2 speed glide with a posi . I bought it of a guy who didn't want his grandparents old car it was stored mostly in side till he got it. mostly original  it has been painted and motor rebuilt or replaced was restambed so unknown. I did put a cd player were the ash tray was fits perfect  and  also put dual exhaust on it in the factory locations and a set of Rally II rims . I like the old four door I thought I would never say that but it looks good and fun to drive. In the short time that I have had it I have put 1000 miles on it in 3 months

The 2 piece headlight doors where a mystery to me too... I've had my car since 84, and they were gone then? It had most of it's original paint , and sheetmetal at that time.

I've since 'collected' a couple sets of the Custom Sport rings, but they are in poor shape...I will paint a set up for a different look, but I do like the more chrome look personnally, especially with the black back drop!

Some very nice cars here. I prefer the painted 2 pc Custom Sport and Grand Prix bezels, The old 64 4 dr ht we had when I was a teenager had one of each. Over the years I've picked up a couple of sets of both kinds, but I'd probably use the painted ones.

I looked at this car the last time I was in Maine about two years ago. It's not bad but I don't like the color combo. I was there to look at a 67 Impala ss convt, and compared to that, this car did not stand out.

Thanks for posting the pics and car history.  It's great to see such a well cared for car being appreciated!  What kind of CD deck did you mount in the ashtray spot?  Thinking ahead to what I might install in mine.

Thanks again!
