I'm trying to wire in a electric fan from a 88 firebird into a 65 fullsize. I know where the big red wire and the big black wire goes. What I need is where the tan/white wire goes as well as the green/white goes. One powers the relay the other is the ground switching wire.
You have the answer in your own question!!!! The tan/wht will be ignition and the the grn/wht is the ground feed from the ECM. (computer) Or in your case, get a thermally actuated switch that screwed into the intake water jacket out of an older GM, before the ECM controlled days, and wire the grn/wht to it.
Part Number (GM) 3040674 used to work like a darn - button type connector single contact - but is actually discontinued from GM - can be purcahed thru - Resale - from GM dealer or check wit the jobber see if they can cross that number
If you want the fan to turn on sooner, there is a switch that grounds around 200 degrees F if I remember right. I used one of them in my 94 Impala SS because the first fan only came on about 225 F and that's too warm by my thinking.

I would love the part # if you can recall , or the application and I can cross it with STANDARD. I used one with the electric fan and relay for my hotrod , kept the box for the part # ,, I can't find it now?
