Everyone has heard about dealer installed 427's but here's another twist. Back in 1969 a friend ordered a new red Jimmy 4x4 with a 307 as the 427 was not available. He also ordered a new 1969 green Strato Chief 2 dr 427 and had the dealer swap engines and install 350 emblems on the Strato Chief. He sold the Strato Chief right away but drove the Jimmy for a while. I'm sure the Strato Chief is long gone someone sure would be surprised if they were restoring it and found a build sheet or historical documents!!
Thanks Randy

Sounds like a lot of trouble to go to in order to get a 427 into a Blazer. There may have been COPO Blazers out there with big blocks. Anyone ever hear of that?
kicked the idea around when I ordered my 1990 GMC Z71. Was going to order a 3/4 ton as well with a 454 and do the swap. Back then the 454`s were stump pullers. A chip in the 350 made them just as fast. Glad I never did it.

You just reminded me of the local Crystal Glass guy, he ordered a new Blazer 350 and a 1 ton 454 and had the engines swapped by the dealer. Pretty sure it was done at Ft. Sask. Chev/Olds and was done in 1990 also.
