...are there any examples, or at least pictures of any unmolested '66 Beaumont 327 engine bays? (I'd love to have definite examples of the air cleaner assembly that these came with.)

Thanks for posting but are you sure that is a 327 as the valve covers aren't indented (which I thought was exclusive to the 327)? ...
It just dawned on me. Is this shot of your recently purchased '66?

hey geoff, heres the pictures i sent you that you requested on the week-end. i believed this was the cleaner that you were after, but lets get a few inputs from some of the other members.
With regards to this picture though, is it fair to conclude that these are the assemblies that came with the 283's? (For the record, I think it would be worthwhile to identify if the July feature car was a 2 or 4 barrel carb so that we could determine if this is the correct air assembly for both 2 and 4 barrel carbs on the 283).
I find it interesting that these are different from what came on the 283 Chevelles of the same year. (At least the American built ones.) And if these are different, it's not a stretch to assume that the 327 Beau assemblies could be different from the 327 Chevelle ones. And if the Chevelle 283 assemblies are different from the Chevelle 327 assemblies, one could conclude that the Beaumont 283 and 327 assemblies could also be different etc, etc, etc. Therefore, it sure would be nice to see an unmolested one.
Thanks again, and I hope that you don't give up on finding a '66 Beau 327 aircleaner assembly in your archives!

It appears that the '66 283 only came in a 2 barrel. Therefore, please ignore my comment above...

I share the frustration. Were the 66 Beaumont 327's that few and far between? Or were they modified that soon after purchase that no one can come up with a picture?...

i do have a picture somewhere of a stock 327 275 hp 66 beaumont it had the big air cleaner with the flat top same as the 396 325 hp but with the smaller diameter snorkel, the 66 fulsize poncho with the 327 275 hp was the same as well.
The Canadian Pontiac & Canadian Chevrolet small block V8 air cleaners for 1966 looked more like the type used on the U.S Pontiacs. They were visibly different than the U.S. Chevrolets. The Beaumonts used the same small block & six cylinder air cleaners for 1966 as those shown in the following attachment that shows engines as dressed in the full-size car line. Canadian Chevelles and Beaumonts were the same under the hood except for the brand-specific decals. Supposedly the Chevelles and Beaumonts came down the same assembly line in series. Engine decals were applied after the fact. I knew of an original 1-owner, unmolested 1966 Beaumont with a 230 decal that proclaimed it to be a "Turbo Thrift 230 140 horsepower"; in other words a Chevrolet decal. All that I can say about that one is the imagines scenario with the assembly line worker saying, "Oops! These Beaumonts and Chevelles all look the same under the hood, I must have used the wrong decal"
Im not sure what to say about the Acadians at that time. I do know the few L-79 cars used the same double opposed snorkel as the U.S. Chevy II.
Through 1966 the 327 on both sides of the border came with the concave V'ed valve covers and rectangular spot in the middle for the valve cover decal. The valve cover decal should be unique for the Beaumont line. The decal looks like the Chevy black and gold decal but will say something like "SUPER ECONOFLAME" on the top section; "327" in the middle and "275 horsepower" on the bottom.

Just to wade into this thread late, I'll throw in a pic of my 1966 Beaumont 283 engine bay as I received the car with 68000 miles. The car has the original carb tag and date coded plug wires. The air cleaner had been sandblasted and left by the previous owner. The alternator bracket, oil filler and throttle return spring mounting are consistent with parts I received from another 1966 when the owner was installing a 350, years ago. I realize this isn't what Geoff is after but one of the other photos was in question. There are two documented 327 1966 Beaumonts in my area, both have the numbers blocks but one was hot rodded from day one and the air cleaner is long gone. The other is completely restored but I have never seen it. The owner is an acquaintance of the fellow I bought my car from. I'll make some calls......I'd sure be inclined to say that the correct air cleaner would be the same as 1966 Full Size Pontiac with a 327, very similar to the 1967 327 Beaumonts that are on this site.
