RE: Another '69 Caprice with Hideways. In Calgary area

That Glacier Blue Caprice in Calgary looks like a beauty. I notice that the 396 is stickered as a 325 horse engine. For 1969 on Big Chevrolets and Canadian Pontiacs, the sole 396 was the regular fuel, 2 -barrel(!) 265-horse torque motor.

I have seen a similar car in east-end Toronto / Pickering area for several years. It is a Green Mist 69 Caprice coupe with hideaways and a 396. It is definitely in rougher shape with weathered paint and minor rust.

What a wild option! I wonder how many cars had that, and what kind of material they used in that bottle.

Probably destroyed paint in no time flat.

My 69 Caprice has the 396/265 engine. I've added a 4 bbl & dual exhaust but even before I did that it was smooth and torquey. Right now it is probably the best running BB I have - maybe because it has more miles than the other two cars and is well broken in. It uses a little oil but that's about it in terms of showing wear.
