Well As I mentioned that I was putting the Tempest on hold for a little bit. It is back in high build and in an enclosed trailer for a few days. The reason for the delay is that a friend of mine had a massive heart attack 1 month ago. He has been in the hospital since then. He has had a Quad bypass done now and is expecting to be released today. He is also a car nut and has a 1970 Camaro. There were some small issues with the paint on the car when it was done in April. He had been talking about having it redone but now doesnt have the energy or strength. I started making calls and have about 10 people who are willing to help out or chip in to get it all redone for him. I brought the car in the shop lastnight and evaluated it. I have been talking to him a couple times and didnt mention the car. He has no idea that this is being done for him. I was hoping to do it as a bit of a surprise. One thing is if we do get away with it I know we will all have our cell phones ready for 911 again. 3 other friends showed up and 1 thing led to another and this is the state of the car now. At this rate we might be able to spray the new red on saturday

your a great friend. i,m sure when he see,s what you,ve done, he,s gonna have some more heart problems. lol did you think of that beforehand? thats a really nice thing you,re doing for him. my hat,s off to you!
Way to go . You are a true car guy, and a friend that anyone would be proud to have. Good luck with the project and hope your friend gets better soon .
Thanks for the comments guys. In a way I am excited about doing this but in a way nervous about it aswell. The way his health is will it be to much of a shock. We will let him know before we return the car to him. The way he is I think he will be upset that he wasnt here to be able to help but oh well he will have to get over that. I will get lots of photos for you all and will also have a camera at the unveiling for a folder. I am thinking the way to break it to him is have the car done, Get a photo of all the people involved around his car. Have it blown up and framed and hand that to him first then let him realize whats been done and open up the trailer for him to see his car. I did think of the heart problem and have been thinking of how to let him know. Well off to the shop to do some more sanding. Will keep you all updated

PS I love that Camaro.

I had a quad done myself alittle over 2yrs ago that's why my '64 resto took almost 2 1/2 yrs to complete so he wont be any help soon. (don't let him do anything). What you and friends are doing is really somthing. Congratulations to u all.
Well it all went well again in the shop. A couple more guys showed up and we kept up on the sanding. To see it now it has come along way. It was hard to see in the first pics there were quite a few paint blisters along the top of the 1/4's so that will explain the seam line of fill in these pics. Our friend that this is being done for has been released from the hospital today and he did call me telling me that he would be here tonight as he knows Thursday is shop night here. I was concerned about that but it ended up alright as he called back and let me know that he wouldnt be making it as he was to tired. So I am hoping to hold him off till possibly wed or thursday as we might be able to return the completed car to him. Not alot of difference in the pics but the car is all block out now and just a little clean up on the 1/4's and then the taping will begin.
