And a 68 Impala SS427 that had an asking price of $125K 3 years ago got $49,500 including fees. Looks like the price of these cars has corrected - maybe over-corrected. Had I expected these cars would be in this range I would have registered as a bidder. I would think the sellers would be disappointed seeing that these cars would have easily fetched $50-75k 3-4 years ago. I guess it's a buyers market.

I would have loved to go to Barret Jackson, if i was there I would have bought that impala in a heart beat for $ 44,000 But It seems like your life is controlled by our dam jobs! The chevelle in my opinion isn,t worth $93,000 but some thing is only worth what someone is willing to pay. With the american economy the way it is alot of people are hurting. And it is only going to get worst before it gets better.

I like the A bodies too but I collect the B bodies. I still can't believe what the 68 and 68 Impala ss 427 cars sold for.

I look at BJ like it's a overpriced "buy and sell" magazine with nice cars and I don't have to flip the pages to look at the cars. Just eye candy but the prices are out to lunch. They will run out of suckers one day and be no more.

I agree there's a lot of what is to me overpriced stuff. But those two 427 Impala convts were as they say on BJ "well bought"; very reasonable prices in my view.

It's a inflated view of things. If you spend more than 30000.00 on any car you will loose money. Most car guys don't care but don't expect to get your money out.

There were some big sellers last night. As much as I like GTO's, I couldn't imagine spending over 100k for one.

Depends on what you buy. Those rags were in bargain territory as far as I'm concerned.

I agree.

And I don't worry about getting my money back out of a car, if I'm spending $30+ on a car, I'm buying it to keep, not to flip.

YA But, you never see land going across a "CIRCUS" show on TV?? Think these "YA HOO'S " just want to be seen on TV buying over priced cars that most people in the "HOBBY" can't afford!! Some of these cars will never see the light of day again eg. Ron Pratt & Tammie whats her name?? Private collections for them to "LOOK AT" Keep this up & there will be no "HOBBY" just the rich guys with their cars "Squirrled" away. never to be seen again!!! As one guy states, " if you don't drive it, don't talk to me"!!!!!!!!!

I think BJ  has a lot of inside fixing going on.  There has to be a lot of dealer to dealer trade offs going on. I personally would not even consider going there to buy a car. There are 3 or 4 more auctions going on in Arizona at the same time that have a lot better deals. I for one am really happy about the price adjustments in the past couple of years even though a couple of hundred grand loss to some of the millionairs that frequent BJ is just pocket change to them.

Al. I think your on the right track!! Also I watched the 1st. night for awhile & some of the cars SOLD below build value [if they really did sell, have heard stories about that too] I certainly would not put my car in there & take a horrendous "BATH" if it got "low balled" or are things so tough down there they will bail out for any price??? After Tues. night the $$$ are way out to lunch!!!!  Maybe SPEED should go down the street & cover RUSSO or the other ones & show some reality in the HOBBY [notice I used "hobby" not BUSINESS

I've been to Barrett Jackson a few times.  The TV is deceiving - all the cars look great on TV.

When viewing these cars in person, I found there is a wide range of restoration quality.  This is a big factor in the sale price.

there are some car builders that are not even allowed there because they spot the fakes for there customers and tell them not to buy it.

Wasn't there a story a few years back (c.2007) about former Speed co-host Keith Martin allegedly being kicked out of BJ and having his media credentials withdrawn because he speculated that prices had peaked and would begin to decline?Which happened the next year.
