I spoke to Dave at Tin Man Auto Wreckers tonight. Dave asked me to let everyone know that he didn't feel right responding to parts wanted ads. He doesn't want folks to think he is on here to peddle his business. He feels that perhaps another member may have the part needed and therefore should have first crack at selling the part. He did however say that if there is a specific part you need, feel free to PM him and he will see if he has it.
It was a pleasure to talk to Dave. I think he will be a real asset to Canadian Poncho. He has both a wealth of knowledge and parts for our cars!
we,re all car guys! we all help each other out, in one way or another. every body here is here for the same reason: we all love pontiacs! and we all love parts!
Not sure what the site policies are, but I wouldn't have any problems to Dave responding to ads... he can always PM. There's nothing wrong with providing a service to CP folks... at the same time, whatever he is comfortable with. Sometimes members point others to businesses for parts, sometimes member buy and sell cars...
I agree with all of the above. (I've got a couple of parts on the way right now from Dave. My second time dealing with him. He has proven to be a great resource of both knowledge and parts.)

Like a lot of guys I have a lot of good parts too. I feel awkward about selling them on here too and I'm just a guy with too much stuff so I can understand Dave's position, but at the end of the day he's a guy we all need to know. I PM guys all the time when they place parts wanted requests. I find they appreciate that I have the part so it's a win win, I get rid of something taking up space and they get that gem they've been hunting for.
I would say Dave is a wise old owl!!! I think that speaks volumes for his business sense. While I have no problem with him replying on here, I agree that PM is likely the most appropriate way to go.
Well done, Dave!

Interesting comment! Very nice, and correct, to have him state his concerns.. I think its great to have his expertise, and parts available, and hope he keeps helping us out....
On the Camaro5 site (37,469members), and Modern Camaro(9,241 members), geared towards 2010 and up Camaros, there are a members using both sites. Some leaning towards Modern camaro, after the boss on Camaro5 "banned" some members, for contacting each other for business through "Private Messages"!
There are many members there, who work at various businesses, that offer Camaro parts.. And some salespeople at dealerships.. I had no problem with them doing business through PM method....
I am glad that we(Canadian Poncho) have more and more business related folks coming on boeard.. it keeps the site interesing and alive C2
I hope Dave continues to help Parts Find the right cars...We need people like Dave not just for parts but for is vast knowledge...he has help soooo many people restore there cars we should all be very greatful !! PM or not you can sell me stuff I need anytime!!
I SURE DON'T HAVE A PROBLEM WITH SOMEBODY OFFERING PARTS THAT SOMEONE ELSE NEEDS, PUBLIC, PRIVATE, BUSINESS, OR PERSONAL. IF IT HELPS SOMEONE OUT, NO HARM IN MY BOOKS. I HAVE NEVER MET DAVE, THOUGH I DID TALK TO HIM ON THE PHONE YEARS AGO. MY IMPRESSION WAS HE WAS A REAL DECENT GUY. COULDN'T HELP ME WITH MY NEEDS BUT GAVE ME A COUPLE OF LEADS ON PEOPLE WHO MIGHT HAVE, OR COULD MAYBE FIND WHAT I NEEDED.
Nothing wrong with responding to a parts wanted in my books. I wish someone would respond to my parts wanted add. I guess it's time to give it a bump. Dave is well known and respected in the Vancouver area. I hope to see more of his input / comments on the site. His knowledge is a big asset.
If/when I'm looking for a part, I hope that anyone who has one they're willing to part with or knows where I might go to find one will PM or respond to my post.
Most of us have cars that aren't like a few I can think of where you build a completely new one from nothing but a cowl tag and a credit card. Many of the parts we're looking for are not reproduced by anybody anywhere, so it's a matter of making the best use of whatever stock is out there.
If CP helps create a market for the parts, it just might save a few old gems from being sent to the crusher!
I appreciate Dave's concern and the responsible way he's approaching it. But I appreciate it even more when someone has something a member needs and makes it known. I'm happy to see info posted here, or if preferable for privacy reasons, to receive a PM.
Cool "signature" 66 Beau! Those are some of the nicest reverse lights I've seen ("0 0") LOL.

Any source for parts is more than welcome in my opinion fellas. The more sources the better. Business oriented or private, doesn't matter. In the end the buyer will decide who he will buy the parts from anyways. I have a tendency to give parts away or sell them cheap, not only to help an enthusiast out, but also to make space around here. It works for me doing it that way and maybe when I need something, someone will remember it and give me a part I'm looking for. Just my 3 and a half cents guys. Parts are parts.

Foreign Canadian Pontiac owners like myself need all the help we can get! Now...about that '69 2+2 big block crankcase vent hose, part #3952306 that I have been looking the past year for...still looking!
I don't see a problem here. Dave run's a parts business for old cars. WE NEED parts for our old cars. Now if a fellow was to start buying up all the stuff that's for sale, just to re-list them at a bigger $$ value, well then I'd have a problem with it. Good luck Dave.

Mike.
AGREED!!!! If someone is looking for a part, and Dave has it.... Why shouldn't he be able to 'PM' that person to sell his part. Its the same as anyone else responding, the only difference is Dave owns a business, and to keep his business going, he has to sell parts... Don't see the problem here.
