I am thinking of selling my 67' Camaro. Problem is, I have no idea what a reasonable price to sell the car for would be.
It has about 77,000 original miles, and I am the second owner.
Its originally a 230ci six, 3 spd manual car. It still have the original engine, but I have swapped in a ST10 4 speed with a hurst shifter to replace the original 3 spd (still have it) and floppy stock shifter. The original engine was rebuilt less than 5000 miles ago and runs great. It was hot rodded a little with a ported head, headers, forged pistons, slightly hotter cam, bigger carb, etc. I had the flywheel machined, installed a new 10.5" clutch and pressure plate, u-joints, etc, when I swapped in the ST10. Its a 3.42 first gear cast iron cased box - I wanted the steep first gear to help get the car out of the hole with the 3.08 rear gear and small engine.
The front end was rebuilt less than 5000 miles ago, and I just had all the brakes done. Lines, master cylinder - everything. It stops great. It has rear springs from an SS396 car (put on in the early 70's!) and the tires are all new BFG's (205/70R15 front, and 255/60R15 rear) on aftermarket chrome rallyes - 15x7 front, 15x8 rear. The front tires are so new, I haven't even mounted them yet. I wll get them on the car before I sell it.
The body is pretty much rust free except for three small spots. One is the passenger side footwell drain has a small patch of rust going into it (maybe 2"x3"), the lip of the trunk lid is rusty from water leaking in from the spoiler holes, and the passenger side fender lip is rotted away from a leaking battery. I have a new floorpan for the passenger side that I was going to cut up to replace the small piece of floorpan, and I have a pair of very nice fenders that I have stripped to bare metal and hit with etching primer. The drivers side is perfect, and the passenger side needs minor work to be perfect (heel of the fender). The car has had two half quarters installed to replace the originals that were cut up for giant fender flares in about 1972. Doors are original and have parking lot rash, but are solid. The chassis is straight, and the frame rails are very nice - they still have the factory paint on them. The doors could use doorpins, but could probably just be re-aligned as the droop isn't bad. All the trim is nice. This car actually has not seen winter since 1971 according to the original owner. Its originally a nassau blue car, but is currently in grey primer.
The interior is light blue standard vinyl, and in ok shape. The dash pad is damaged where someone stole the Smith tach that was mounted there in the mid 70's. I have put a similar tach there, but the dash bad is still damaged in that one spot. The carpet needs replacing, and the bucket seats need recovering. The rest of the interior is actually pretty nice. Its basically just standard wear on a 44 year old car. There is no console - just the chrome T handled hurst shifter, with a hurst boost sticking up through the floor.
Its a great driving car, and you could hop in it and drive it cross country. The problem is that I might need the money from it for renovations to the house. Doh.
Here is a project car for 6500. The first gen Camaro's seem to hold a high value from what I have seen. Evan rust buckets. My son got his 67 rust bucket from a family member and still paid $2000.00 for it.
Most of the hard work done, the entire car has been sand blasted and primed inside and out. A great start on a classic car that is hard to find. here is a list of new and used parts the car comes with.
NEW PARTS- Complete Floor, L&R outer rockers, L&R inner rockers, L&R outer wheelhousing, L&R inner wheelhousing, Full truck pan, front spoiler. these parts were all bought this month and are still in box's.
USED PARTS- Comes with a used 1970 350 4 bolt main engine that needs re-built, all glass in great shape and hardware, 2 fenders, hood, bucket seats and rear seats, many misc. iteams a few box's that i may forget have everything needed to restore the car except NO Tranny, NO Carpet, NO headliner, No Rad and rad brace, or dash and needs one Door have the door but rough. Sorry No Trades!
Well, its inside the garage...I have to dig out the door so I can pull the car out. I bought this off my friends brother who was the original owner. I am looking at either selling my house and moving, or finishing the basement.
If anyone wants to look at the car, its in my garage at main and danforth.
Very minimal bondo where the new quarters are welded on. It is a very solid car - the rear frame rails still have the factory paint on them.
You can see the damaged fender, and trunk lid. The fender rusted out from battery acid leaking onto it. The inner fender is still good. The trunk lid rusted out from the spoiler being installed improperly so water leaked into the trunk lid and sat there. The rest of the car with the exception of the small spot I mentioned on the passenger floorpan is very nice.
We had it on my friends hoist and he was real impressed with how solid and straight the chassis is. The drivers door has about 1/4" of droop at the rear due to worn door pins, but I think I can just adjust the door and they don't need to be replaced.
When I had it running today, I noticed the header gasket blew out. Doh. Now it has an exhaust tick.
I still haven't decided if I am going to sell it. I need a realistic value in the case that I do. I am trying to buy a new house, and might need the extra cash. I have decided I want a big garage which I can't do on my current property.

I maybe shouldn't guess because I don't follow the Camaros that much.
I was thinking there is likely an investment of $15,000 to paint it and make the interior nice and do the little things it needs. What is the car worth finished, high teens to $20,000???
However, that makes it a 5K car and to me, that would be a steal of a deal, so I'm back to square one!

I think I have an idea of the worth now, since I have been looking around online. I can't even find another complete running 1st gen camaro in ontario for under $14K on kijiji right now. I think $10-12K would be reasonable since its a six cylinder car.
Since this is not an actual "for sale" thread I ll chime in with a comparison. A customer here in NOTL has a b eautifully restored award winning 67 6 auto white red western car with no patches ever but did get NOS quarters he ll take 20K Dave GreenmAn
