holy crap carl and todd! do you guys have electric heat? my usual hydro bill is around $170 -$190 per month, and i,m out in the garage everyday. i,m also in ontario. up here we use hydro one as our suplier

We have a 1975 Home..  5 bedroom....  was all baseboard heaters...
We added two gas fireplaces (house had 2 wood fireplaces (I on each level) in the 90's..  and we use electric in kitchen and bathrrom only..  My Garage is electric..   BUT we get yanked on sewage and water!

Of the bill last month $375.00 for hydro $131.00 water & sewage $52.00 HST tax   They read it every other month..    My average is $390.00 per month   Union Gas for fireplaces last month was $127.00....  averages  50.00 per month.....  Add on $250.00 for taxes and there we are...
We have morgage paid off, but utilities are the same as morgage payment was!!

We will stay here until the money runs out...  in 2013

Back to Hydro rates....I was shocked to get my recent Hydro bill which was $424 covering the Christmas period . I was bracing for a $600 bill. This bill is so low compared to normal. In Toronto we get bills every two months.

We have made a concerted effort to work around and within the new variable demand rates. Even with the huge Christmas light display we managed to reduce our bill by nearly 20%. I have also changed out pretty much all of the incandescent light bulbs in favour of low energy use CFL's.

I guess I should be thanking Mr. McQuinty for my savings......NOT !

Usually the new government doesn't undo "mistakes" made by the previous government if it comes down to making $$$$.
All they say is "The previous government put that law/bill in place ... wasn't us!"

Normally that is fairly true BUT tonight I was out at an event and Rob Ford the new Mayor of Toronto was there and he reminded us did rescind the $60 per car tax Mayor Miller imposed. I'd say that's progress.

Ray explain to us all in your own words, why Mr. Hudak is kinda scary. I am sure many of us need to know. Dalton the DOLT was only up staged in profound dumb by the one and only Bob the knob Rae. If Dalton the DOLT gets back in then we all deserve we get. Everyone in Ontario get off your fat asses and vote The DOLT out or stop the !@#$%^&* *****!@#$%%^&. Cheers. George.

With respect to Tim Hudak. I have met him personally at an event but enough to form an opinion from having a short conversation with him. I have never voted anything but Tory since the first time I voted at 18 and I am somebody who has never missed voting, ever for any office open, includes by-elections and when I'm out of the country I vote at advance polls. So the Tory's have got good loyalty and longevity out of me.

I found Hudak to be very rigid and uncompromising, very right wing and in general not a person I warmed up to or even liked. He is young and naive in my opinion and not very impressive. The fact is I will likely vote for his candidate in my riding mostly because I always have and could not stomach  McGuinty again.

Ray, I cannot understand how some people always vote for the same political party.. To me this means they were brainwashed at a young age. Life long supporters of one political party have to be the most close minded people and have no ability or compromise to even listen to anyone with a difference of opinion. I vote in every election and have voted Tory , Liberal , NDP and even for an independant with no party affiliation.

Tim Hudack is a Mike Harris clone. Harris cost my wife her job, do you think we would vote tory again?  Yes I would depending on who is the leader and who the local candidate is. Hudak , not a chance. I personally strongly feel no politicial party in Canada and Ontario deserves a majority unless they recieve over 50% of the total of the votes cast not by winning the majority of seats. To recieve a majority they should have to win the most seats and over 50% of the votes cast.

As for Ontario I think McQuinty will win again but not get a majority. This election I will vote for whatever candidate I think will defeat the Liberal candidate in our riding.
Our riding is currently NDP but was represented previously by the torys with Allan Pope doing a fantastic job when Bill Davis was Premier.

There have been very very few politicians with the guts that Mike Harris had. I am very sorry your wife lost her job but how do you equate that with Mike Harris. While it is so simple for politicians to continue wasting and taxing, wasting and taxing, wasting and taxing. Here was a man who tried to make some real positive change in Ontario after Bob the knob Rae and David the weasel Peterson totally made a mess of Ontario. The people of Ontario cried for change but that was only as long as others had to make a sacrifice.  Sadly for those of us who live and work in Ontario, the media is very left wing LEFT WING. There is never a cry when lefty types are goofing everything up but when someone from the RIGHT farts or burps the media con the average not so informed Ontario resident that they are worse than Hitler. Mr. Mike Harris would have got my vote to run the country. So Mike left because all the death threats from socialist loonies destroyed his family, the party was voted out and Dalton the dolt mcginty got in. Ok so where are we now, if people are happy with where  Dalton the dolt has put us then we deserve our very sad very expensive fate. It has always disgusted me, how misinformed the average voter is. Most people i have spoken to, do not even know how the actual mechanics of the political system work. Its those voters that really scare the !@#$%^&* out of me. Cheers. George.
