Well a few weeks ago I was proud how this section of walls and roof had come together but when the owners saw the pictures they came and saw it and said it was too high. I then cut the roof in 3 sections, sold it for $100, craned it off onto his trailer and have started over. Tall wall will be 21 feet now instead of 26 so we do a little reno before the roof goes on. I was warned before I started this house this might happen so it makes it a little easier for me. Weather has been nice so that makes it a lot better.
You are taking this pretty well. Is that a change order to take it down in height ? I hope you juiced him.
We do some of these on contract but they asked if I would do it cost plus so it works out best that way. They can make all the changes they want and then you aren't battling over the extras. They have been very good to deal with so far, just a little frustrating when you think you had it done just right and it was fastened like it shouldn't ever come down.
How could it be that the owner thought it looked too high after the fact? Was that not one of the major issues worked out during the very early planning stage? Elevation is quite elementary, no? What Ray said!

I think there was a lot of planning and I heard that they even had a 3D model made up. The problem is it would have been okay on a 10 acre parcel but the highest point is very close to the street so it seemed quite in your face. We were just sheeting the new roof today and it does look much better.

That's a huge set of Legos you are playing with! Cool job!
* Does anyone remember Mini-bricks?

Some people just aren't able to visualize. I see that on other forums, when someone posts, 'Thinking of painting my car a different color. Can someone photoshop it for me?' Or, 'What will my car look like with these wheels?'
And yes, I remember Mini-bricks. I built many a house with a multi-car garage for my Corgi and Dinky toys.
