1967 Impala SS 396

I recently purchased a 1967 Impala SS 396 with the intentions of using for a parts car.  The vehicle is factory bolero red with a combination white and black interior.  I would imagine the vehicle also has a 12 bolt posi and was a factory automatic and still retains original buckets and console.  As the story goes a Saskatchewan farmer pulled the original engine stuck the motor in his grain truck as the 366 went terminal. The same farmer does not want to give up the original engine. After the engine was pulled the vehicle was pushed off to the side and thats where it sat for many years.  The story gets more interesting as I was told the farmer hooked a chain to the front of the car to pull out of the bush and hit a tree resulting in a bent front bumper, rad cradle and hood.  I tend to feel it was driven into a tree but that's my opinion.  Needless to say I also bougt a real nice 1967 four door from the same gentlemen and would be able to supply most of the parts to fix although I am kinda fond of the front fenders for my project.  I live in Calgary but both cars are currently in Saskatchewan.  I would be willing to sell the Super Sport for $3500 OBO But may sell for less depending on how complete you need the car to be.  You can call me anytime at 403-815-1120 my name is Jeff.

I seen this advertised.... I'm thinking it run into the trees at 70....a little more than a brush up
Against the trees... I'd say.

I didn't recall the ad mentioning it to be a 396 car....good score !

Is this the one?  That car had a lot less rust than is typical - does not look like it had many miles on it when wrecked.

Hello Canadian Poncho Brothers.  I did indeed purchase both of the 1967 Impala parts cars in White Fox for $1000 cash.  My intentions were to use the front fenders on the 4 door and the rocker chrome off the 2 door for my 427 convertible otherwise I have pretty much everything I need to complete my project.  I know my $3500 asking price was way to steep!  I actually still have to transport the cars to Calgary but was toying with the idea of just taking what I need and selling off the rest to a club member.  If anyone needs a 12 bolt or parts just drop me a line I will be more than fair.  I might even sell my 427 convertible for a reasonable price complete the 427 engine and numerous NOS parts and believe me I pretty much have every part you would need to complete the project.   I am losing a little interest as I have alot of other projects on the go.  I am on holidays all of this week and I am heading to Phoenix Wednesday to catch the Nascar race.

Did you see this car for sale in Vancouver?  Very similar to my car except my 67 is a non Z24.

I'm thinking this is the car that my friend down in Maryland sold A TON of NOS parts for. I will have to find out.  Very nice car.

That SS427 is very nice. I don't know if he will get the price though - a body off resored 68 SS427 that was for sale for over $100K a couple of years ago - sold for less than $50K at Barrett Jackson in January.

67's seem to bring more money than 68's, but if this car is documented and has the born with drive train the price is not too far off.

If he does get close to it maybe the bottom hasn't dropped out of the market for these cars; time will tell.

Documented cars with there original drive trains still bring good money, IF this car has these attributes he's not far off. But that is a BIG IF.

I think that right now $50K is the top of what I would pay for a really good 67 or 68 Z24 convertible.

It's not easy to find someone local willing to part with $50,000 never mind $70,000 but the 1967 cars seem to be a little more rare than the 1968 cars.  I noticed on the SS 427 webisite someone also listed a blue 1967 SS 427 convert for sale as well.  Funny though I have invested $20,000 into my car and I still need to do bodywork & paint, interior, fortunately the engine is rebuilt.  I anticipate I will end up investing another $15000 to $20000 to complete.

That car was restored by Brad Menor of S.D. I have personally seen his work and it's outstanding.

Is this a current add or a old one???

I know Dave Jackson is the Canadian authority on 1968 Super Sports he visits this site regularly so I know this asking price will make him happy.

There is no doubt the market has softened, and I'm sure the colors didn't help either.
The last place to sell a car like that is at BJ. Unless its a Camaro or Corvette, they try and get it off the block as fast as they can.
