My salt water smelt rig. A net strung under the ice. Haul it in a couple times and you're good to go!
I used to line fish (rod and tip-ups) through a hole (in the open or a rented hut) on Lake Simcoe and Bay Of Quite. Love icefishing!!!

Haven't gone out since before the kids were born. Last time out we had one of those wooden huts you haul in a pickup. Anyhow there's four of us sitting in this hut fishing BS ing and having a few brewskis when up through one of the holes jumps a muskrat. There was a lot of fishing lines and beers flying as everyone scrambled to get out of the hut. That little guy was not happy. Always makes for a good fishing story.
