Ontario LOTTOMAX great news

Carls pet peeve #  1-10    not enough lottery winners, per week

A group of 24 Bombardier production workers have arrived at a lottery prize centre to stake their claim to a $50-million Lotto Max jackpot.

The co-workers travelled by subway to the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp. prize centre on Dundas Street West in downtown Toronto on Monday morning.

They are now in the midst of being interviewed by OLG officials to ensure that all of the claimants are legitimate and that their winning ticket can be validated.

Outside the prize centre, a 53-year-old Barrie, Ont., man said he intended to share his winnings with his children and family.

Wow   Thats better!!    24 new cars, 24 new trucks, 24 new homes, 24 new TVs, 24 new unplanned trips,  several jobs probably freed up..  24 sets of Kids get Education and bills paid..  24 new boats,  and on and on     Thats the way it should be   Carl said...

One way to have more winners would be to diversify those huge jackpots a little.
Instead of those 40 or 50 million jack pots, make it 5 or 10 for the big one and the rest in million dollar prizes and so on..... Less for those group buyers but better odds for the individuals.   Just a thought....

I'm with you, more smaller prizes, share the wealth and they might sell more tickets.
Most people wouldn't know how to deal with a million dollars.
I know of 1 winner personally who had to claim bankruptcy 6 years later, bad advice and bad investments.

The idea of more but smaller prizes gets bantered about quite often. And seems to make good sense. But lottery officials must have the numbers to prove they sell proportionately more tickets ( and thus have higher profits ) when the jackpot is outrageous.
So it appears we reason 1 way and buy another.

My sister owns a lottery both in a mall and it is a fact ticket sales go up big time when there is one big prize. I too think there should be 50 - 1 million dollar draws.

Heard on the news that this lottery and the last lottery win are still in limbo due to other people coming foward with winning numbers.

Remember Faye Dance? lol. My dad had a crush on her! Faye and (I think his name was) Bill would go to small towns in Ontario and broadcast the draws live. Some lucky local would get to press the button to release the balls from the machine. Real drama!
