Stay safe everybody. Years ago I took my son to Whistler, first week of January. Coldest I've ever been in my life. Had fun, though. Guess this storm won't be.

Deep down inside Canadians love a good storm. I can find the fun in it. Even 427Carl can, just not 6 times a year!

Me too. Now that I'm home there's no worries. Tomorrow could be a snow day for me. We've only got about 23hrs of work booked (compared to about 65) so I'm sure they would survive without me.
It's just starting to hit Windsor. I see it's been upgraded to a blizzard warning for our area. I can't recall the last time Environment Canada issued a blizzard warning for this area.
Here's the reason for the blizzard warning from Environment Canada:
"Note that the blizzard warning criteria for Ontario was changed June 2010 to remove cold wind chill requirements. The new criteria requires a visibility of 400 metres or less in snow and blowing snow accompanied by sustained wind speeds of 40 km/h for at least four hours. This will likely mean more blizzard warnings will be issued in the future.
This is the first widespread blizzard warning for Southern Ontario since March 1993, during the 'storm of the century'."
I Just drove home from the office. It took me 12 minutes, that's unheard of. The streets in up-town Toronto are deserted. It's damp and streets are moist but no snow yet. The street lights glow eerily with the high humidity in the air. Looks like everyone is hunkering down.
should start here in 2 more hours. The north east winds bringing the lake effect snow off lake Ontario should add to the fun. Remember having studded tires for this weather till they banned them
My folks beat the storm home. Didnt see a single flake from Kentucky home, Walked in the door at 6pm. Whooosh. So glad they beat it home, Now they can watch the snow fall safely.
its not as bad as I thought we were gonna get hit with, Definately not what we had in Dec but the say isnt over yet. Quite suprised our crescent has already been plowed by the city. Rather impressed. Snow day for son. Wife off work....have 6 movies....perfect day to chillax and use some of the gas in the snowblower! LOL Drive safe everyone !
Looks like Toronto called in a snow day, roads were deserted in town. I used my Suburban but didn't need to as the City boys must have been out early as roads and sidewalks were pretty much down to the pavement. It sure helps that I basically only came across three cars on my trip to work. I'd say 95% of people stayed off the roads. I'm the ony one here at my office so far.
On the other hand the Gardner westbound was closed and ramps to the 401 and QEW were closed so it makes it very difficult to commute.
Here's the photo in front of my office, Eglinton Avenue East looking west to Yonge Street, First one is yesterday at 8:45 am and Second one today at 8:15 am.

I took the day off. I got up at 5:30, turned on the radio and heard Hwy 19 between Ingersoll and Tillsonburg was closed. That was enough for me. The 401 couldnt have been much better. There's still some snow in Michigan that could hit us.
Bring it on I'm dying to try the Allis out in some REAL SNOW!!! So far this winter al wev'e had is a dusting & haven't had to "work' the new tractorYET????
