Here is a pic from tonight blowing snow. The drift at the end is higher than the blower is, and it has a 33" bite. Really worked the 12hp Tec. tonight.....

Just heard that a woman I worked with before got runover by a snowplough about 9:00 am this morning on her way into the office. Crtical condition, crushed pelvis and internal bleeding, has undergone emergency surgery at Sunnybrook Medical Centre in Toronto. Saying a prayer for her.

Snowplow driver charged after woman critically injured
The driver of a snowplow truck has been charged after a 52-year-old woman was struck by the truck on Wednesday morning.
The incident happened after 9 a.m. at 174 Bartley Dr., near Victoria Park and Eglinton Avenues.
The woman was walking across a private parking lot, when she was struck by the snowplow truck, which reversed and pinned the woman. The victim is in hospital with critical injuries.
The driver fled from the scene and was arrested a short time later. He is facing with two criminal charges.
We take so much for granted, never think much about the deadly impact a storm can have until it hits so close to home. I worked with this woman for the past 4 years up until September 21st. Her workstation was right opposite my office door so I saw her everyday and of course we would chat about family and weekend activities, everything you chat about in an office. She is a good Christian woman, mother and wife so I know her faith will help her in her time of need. My last report at about 6:30 indicated that she was still bleeding internally and that the doctors were trying to isolate the source.
Where the hell did he think he was going....He was in a Snowplow!!!!

When did the WUSIFICATION of the NATION begin. OMG the end of the world is coming. I was out and about in the Toronto area and you good folks have got to be kidding. Growing up in Toronto in the sixties and seventies i got to know how harsh a winter can be on occasion but it was accepted that this is WINTER and during WINTER it will be WINTER like. When you stayed home from school or work in those days it had to be real bad. Today people are just looking for excuses to be pampered. Just speaking for the Toronto area, it was Nothing, let me repeat myself NOTHING to call out the ARMY. NAVY and AIRFARCE. My parents generation have reason to think that my generation as well as the generations that follow, to be spoiled, pampered and wusified. I my self enjoyed driving in it and shoveling it. Hope everyone out there made it ok during this time of crisis. The RED ALERT PANIC will soon be over. Just kidding. I think. Cheers. George.

George, I don't disagree with everything you said. I harken back to when I was a boy in Toronto and my old man slapped on two snow tires and we drove through everything anytime. We walked to school in blizzards, I only ever recall one snow day and it did snow then, we had mounds that we walked the entire way to school.
The city isn't 900,000 people anymore and the heat the City generates is enough to move snow north to Hwy #7. Snow melts when it hits the ground downtown because everything is underground heating up the surface. The GTA has 6,152,000 people all moving around. We have gridlock on beautiful summer days so it is foolish to think a snowy day will be easy with no problems.
It wasn't "nothing" today as you say. The reason it was nothing was because the warnings were issued and people prepared and acted accordingly. The ploughs were out and sidewalks cleared over night so my kudos to City workers this time. I had to clear at least 6 inches of snow off my truck to go home from work, so that is not nothing.
My friend getting run over and lying in Sunnybrook in Critical Condition isn't nothing either.

Ray your comment about that person getting run over is going to far my brother. Way way too far. It is so far off the scale of absurd to think that i would ever make light of anyone getting hurt. I my self and my brother got hurt a number of years ago in a winter mishap where some ****ing moron was driving too fast and rear ended us at a stop light. So to put it lightly i resent your comment about the sad situation your friend is in. I wish your friend a complete and speedy recovery. I just have a real hard time equating how my remarks have anything to do with your friends situation. We do not need winter conditions to get into sad situations. At the best of times it is very scary out there. Most of my auto mishaps over the last 36 + years have been in perfect good weather. I do not make light of the danger out there i just make light of how people expect to live in a pampered bubble these days. Again i am sorry to hear about friend and i hope all goes well for your friend. George.

Hey George, my remark was not intended to be personal, I know you well enough to know you would never make light of that situation. You are a decent and respectful man so I am sorry you took this as a personal remark.
My remark is that it is dangerous when proper care is not taken especially in the multicultural Mega City. It doesn't matter if it is 2 cm or 15 cm the result is the same.

Ray everything is cool my brother, no harm done. Got my 17 year old mastercraft snow blower with a Mac out a couple of times and it performed beautifully. A friend of mine has a three year old Murray with a Tech. in it and he always has trouble with it. It amazes me how much better the old stuff is generally. Cheers. George.

'64 Parisienne CS "barn find" - last on the road in '86 ... Owner Protection Plan booklet, original paint, original near-mint aqua interior, original aqua GM floor mats, original 283, factory posi, and original rust.
To those asking, apparently the surgery was 8 hours last night and the internal bleeding has been contolled, she is still in critical but stable condition.
Apparently government officials are crawling all over the place today dealing with workplace safety concerns.
Landlord called me in a panic too since it was his contractor involved in accident.
we got 28 cm here on the south side of Lake Ontario. They said Toronto got about half that. Road crews had all the main roads cleared for the morning ride in
You guys need to move. People are golfing here. I was in a short sleeve shirt today!
Believe it or not some of us like winter. I love looking out from my front deck when there is a new snow and there is beautiful white blanket over every thing, I like shoveling snow, and I hate rain so good old MB is fine by me.

I think we are getting the snow we were supposed to get last week. We've had about 15cm fall in about 90 minutes and it's still coming down heavy. Funny, the weather forecast says 2cm today and 2 tonight! They don't have a clue, do they?
