It likely does not have a 305, possibly a 350.

As Jonno says has to be a 350 if original. 305 not produced until 1976 Model year.

Looks like a hardtop to me. Was there a 2 door post 74? That's a great buy. A nice set of duals and some wheels and you are good to go.

Yes, the 74 Impala Custom and Caprice were 2 dr posts, the regular Impala and the Bel Air coupes were true 2 dr hardtops. Last year for them. This car looks to be in very good condition. I like it.

The cheaper models gets the two door hardtop style (Impala base and Bel Air)
Meanwhile the upmarket models are two door posts (Impala Custom and Caprice)
Here is an example of the two door post.

That identical car is 15 minutes from me. Nice original 455 car but I just can't get him talked into selling it. Needs a resto but parked for years, well stored in a good storage building. Still runs/drives nice, loaded.

The big B-body 2-doors got new rooflines for 1974, followed by the 4-doors for 1975.

I havent seen a 74 Bel Air coupe in decades. A friends brother in law had one in 1974 as a company car. Dad owned a 1974 Biscayne, pictured here at Manatoulin Island in 1976. Note the dual unit tail lights.

The Impala Custom Coupe in 1974 still retained the same rooftop panel and sculpted trunk lid as the 1971-1973 models. They only changed the rear quarter windows from a vertical type to a large triangular fixed type, The Sport Coupes, like the Bel Air that started this post, switched to a vertical style of side glass in place of the angled type from earlier years.
