What we're saying is the 2 bbl  version was the only 396 available in a full size in 69. The only other BB's were the LS1, L36 and L72 427's. ( I think) 

Here is the line up from the brochure. Your correct.  396  265 hp 2 bbl only.

All 69 B body 396 cars were 265 hp 2bbl single exhaust cars  (dual ex optional). I have one. It also has 2.56 gears. I have a 4 bbl and duals on the car now but before I ever made those changes the car had lots of power and torque. It's a great running motor and it moves the car along very well. 

This blue coupe is a very nice example.
