I put my Bel Air on Kijiji, and a guy sent an email offering me his '03 Silverado 2500 4x4.  Its loaded, except leather, and has 170km.  6 litre auto.

Just wondering what you guys think the truck is worth?  BTW I put the car in for $11000.00

Thanks, Don't really need the truck, it is handy to have one though. Thinking maybe if I trade, the truck would be easier to sell...

My first thought exactly. Have you thought about whether you are willing to trade it for another classic (retains value), a daily driver (rapid depreciation) or no trades at all?

I think you should make up your mind about that before you decide.

Really want cash, to work on the 60 wagon, but a 'newer' vehicle as a daily driver would be nice as well as being easier to sell.
Heres a couple pics the guy sent me.

I just went to KIJIJI to look at your add.Do you have any pictures of the car?

Unless I was looking at the wrong add 1 picture is not enough to sell or trade a car

I'd take your car any day of the week before that truck. 6L pickups are not very valuable in Alberta compared to a Duramax. The 6L is known to enjoy stops at the gas station. As well, the resale value of an extended cab is somewhat less than if it were a crew-cab. I would think that he is having a difficult time selling his truck and he's thinking that your car would be an easy sale in the spring compared to the truck. There are so many trucks in Alberta due to oilfield and agriculture that I think it has hurt the market.

Your car is appreciating and that truck is dropping like stone. I'd hold out for cash or another classic.

You will never in a month of Sunday's get $11000.00 for that truck. That's a $7000.00 truck headed down hill fast, in 1yr or when it rolls over 200,000 km it's worth $5,000.00. What's your car going to be worth in 1yr ? Your trading an investment for something that will be worth squat in 3-4 yrs.
Bad move in my opinion but don't listen to me, I'll honk the horn when I drive by in your 65 Impala with that 396 rumbling away. And there you'll be riding in your rusted out pickup truck, your head drooped down between your knees thinkin, I wish I woulda kept that car. Boo-Hoo dohdohdohdohdohdoh

CrazyJ, your probably right, and after driving the truck for a couple months, I'll be bored with it...LOL  Thats my biggest problem, I get bored with vehicles too easy.  My 60 wagon I've had for about 8 years, I've driven it to some local shows over those years, but haven't driven it enough to get bored with it.

I have to agree with the opinions supporting you keeping your car. Of course, as has been pointed out more than once, the car will only keep going up in value. That truck is already 8+ years of age and although modern technology is supposed to be a lot better and the mileage works out to be not all that much per annum; that's still a fair whack of miles on it in my opinion.
Keep the car pally! Keep the car! Other than that, about all you can do is sell the car and use that money to play with your wagon.
