It sure was a record breaker! 74 lead changes, a win for the Woods brothers racing team (first one since 1976), and the youngest driver to ever win the Daytona 500 at the ripe age of 20! The new tandem racing style while risky, is needed to get some crowd excitement back. And that it did. A few wrecks during the race had no injuries but also weeded out some cars from finishing the event. Kudos to the crews for patching the road worthy ones back to life. Tandem racing requires a lot of skill, communication, and an eye on the temp gauge as when one if drafting so close, it's easy to overheat! Three cars from one team fell to cooked engines. And very easy at 9000 RPM's I might add. We had a good family get-together thanks to all of this, complete with Mom cooking up some "southern-style ribs". Yee-ha!

I really enjoyed the race, although I was disappointed in the twin 150s on thursday. Congrats to the Wood Brothers they sure needed ane deserved the win, I really think Nascar will get some fans back with this type of racing.
Will be interesting to see what the racing is like on NON Super Speedway!! I was a little disapointed in the practice & thought the 500 wouldn't be exciting, WRONG!!! will see how it goes with no drafting races coming up.
