wow cool story Dave ! I bought a brand new muncie M21 off the shelf tranny outa that fire for my 56 Chevy Business mans coupe from a mechanic that worked there. I had to replace the case cause it was melted. The TD Bank now resides where that dealership was. I think the GM Dealership was called Johnson Motors , Harry Johnson before Cliff Bristow took it over. The famous Kipp Scott came from there too as he apprenticed as a mechanic in that shop and later started Kipp Scott Pontiac Buick in Red Deer , now deceased but his son runs it. And my Uncle Rollie Koch started up Rollies Motor Products later on and was the four line GM dealership for about 20 years after Cliff and apprenticed also with Kipp at Bristow Motors shop. Any Rat Patrol pics or pics of that shop out there anywheres ??

That settles it, a Firebird in not a Pontiac.

Wow, how do you find this stuff, Fred ? I have never seen this article, I might have to send it to our local paper ! Too bad this crime happened and shut down a great piece of GM Muscle history ! I have a buddy in our car club that still has his 69 CST 396 factory buckets, factory air, bright green metallic pickup sold at Bristows too. I ordered virtually every part available back 20 years ago when I was in parts and the truck was restored.

Hi guys, this is an old post but in the newspaper clip on the Fire at Bristow Motors. It states 12 cars were pulled from the fire and saved, were any of the 12 cars found out there ? The reason I ask is, I have found supposedly one of the 12 cars that has GM docs showing it came from Bristow Motors and is a 1971. The owner claims the car was in that fire and has pictures of the car dated that era and the slightly burned roof area before repairs were done and a new headliner was put in and other pics. It is not a COPO or L78 car but is a Special Order BB car from that Supercar GM Dealership.
just wondering if the Story ads value to the car and its worth ?
Darren

Cliff Bristow yes the Rat Patrol was supposed to be a ZL1. My hometown Three Hills. Too bad he torched the place and went to jail for insurance fraud. I have a 71 Cheyenne pickup sold there, too. Lots of racing history here ! I would like the yellow 427 convertible please.... haha

Cliff used to get speeding and stunting tickets when he took that car out to the fair grounds after a parade. That's where they made my 1967 Pontiac Parisienne 427 a go fast car. It came with 385 HP and they boosted that up then it was me that got the speeding and stunting tickets.

I have the order sheet here for the cars that Cliff would special build for customers. 427 engines with 4 speed trans. Found it at Garrett motors carbon before they tore that place down.
