I see the 66 SS396 Chevelle convertible that was a feature car went through the Toronto Classic car auction and sold at $27,400 including the 10 percent buyer's premium showing a on the block bid of about $25,000 netting the seller $22500 then deduct the $500-$600 special presentation entry fee for a net of $22,000--should be somewhat comparable---I prefer the beaumont but I'd have to say in all honesty most would consider a big block Chevelle convertible more desirable-

The 4-speed tri power air conditioned 65 GTO convertible neted in the high 20's after fees

I found this listing by chance searching after seeing the cars in barns one posted here. If this car is still available I would be interested at the $12,000

not true-nobody can put their name on anything until after they pay for it-true I always wanted this car but it is becoming clear that I likely won't get it , there are outside forces working against that. I ll probably just have to wait for the green one.

If you or anyone wants to try to purchase this car its fair game (a free market). I was just commenting that I didn't think that if Jack were to sell it wouldn't be at that price due to what I offered with no reply. I educated Jack on the rarity and quality of this car-for that reason I don't think he would sell for the price of a fixed up one. This has been his toy for 30 years its not going anywhere fast

Sorry for the sidetrack of this thread

It depends a lot on what car you are selling as to how sales work.  For a nice driver Lemans or equivalent people might drive fifty miles to take a look....might.  A nice GTO will bring curious people from a little farther out.  A nice Ram Air car might bring people from the coast to look.  With the last two cars we sold, I knew as soon as the guys looked at the cars that we had a sale.  They got to go out in the cars on the road to see how they drove.  We hadn't been to the International Centre auction for a few years but went with friends this spring.  I was disappointed with the quality.  Our Chevelle is a nice cruise night driver but still looked better than many of the cars there.  That's not bragging our car up.  I was just disappointed in the quality of the cars.  Many paint jobs were full of orange peel which really shows up under the lights.  Far from quality work.  I'll continue to go the internet route on the various web sites like this one.  Go to a Pontiac web site and you know you are advertising to Pontiac people to sell your Pontiac.  Go to a Chevelle web site to sell your Chevelles.  Kijiji is excellent exposure too.  Worked for me.

I understand.  Just my attempt at being funny as I believe this car to be your "unicorn".

Haaaaa!  A year of so ago I was in Toronto with a co-worker from Calgary.  We walked into a diner and noticed a table of good looking younger gals.  At which point me co-worker said "Dibbs!".  Man did I laugh!  For two reasons...the first being that I hadn't heard the expression for about 30 years...the second being that claiming "dibbs" would have no impact on anything (much like you state).

Now I'm going to finish my Sanka.
