Help, have an avatar question.

How long does it generally take to upload an avatar? I started to do it and it was taking a while so I got nervous thinking it was too big or something and bailed out on it. Any thoughts, thanks......Doug.

it should load up right away. Just make sure your photo file is not too large before you start or maybe too high a resolution ??

Thanks, it was taking .....like 2 minutes and I figured it might be too large. Will have to figure out how to make it smaller.........any ideas on that? Not too literate as you can most likely tell, lol... the pic's about 5.93 MB, what should a good size be? Thanks.

Doug, you need photo editing software to resize the photos. I use Microsoft Office Picture Manager to resize photos. It is part of Microsoft Office (Excel & Word). There are some free photo editing programs on the net for free such as Gimp which is a really good one.

Picture is way too big, you should try to get it down to 75/80 KB, then it won't be a problem. I use Adobe Photoshop for that.

Thanks everyone for all the tips and suggestions and thanks for the offer to help Carl. I managed to get one pic up, it will do for the time being and hopefully I will get a better handle on it shortly. This car was in the Powell River Seafair Parade this past summer ('10). I don't know if the guy still has it, but I think so.
