OEM or repop fender

OEM or reproduction. OK I bought a fender off Craigslist. How do I tell if it is oem or reproduction and don't say install it and if it fits it's oem! The fender is in excellent shape.

It looks OEM, has the same three dimples around the bolt hole to the front of the cowl
as OEM. I have used repo's that didn't have the dimples. Unless they have changed
them. Do the emblem holes look smooth like stamped out not drilled

It's hard to say. If I had to guess I would say they were drilled. It was sold to me as an OEM fender but it looks so good I find it hard to believe. It's used but it could have been a n.o.s. fender or a reproduction. I find it hard to believe it's a 40+ year old fender. I only paid $50 for it so it was a good deal either way. I couldn't not buy it.

I don't think a repop would have the emblem holes pre punched. Its sold to install on all models with or without emblems

Put Your thumb against it and push. If it dents it's aftermarket. The eye brow mounting screws are also a dead give away. The hardware will be molded in on the aftermarket and the oem has a pressed in square nut.

Well I moved my car out of the garage and took a good look at the fenders and I can't see any difference between my "new" fender and the ones I know are oem on my car. The eye brow area is the same as far as I can tell. The 67 has a hole that the moulding retainer stud goes through and is retained by a nut on the back side. It does have the pressed in square nuts for some of the attachment points, battery tray area etc. I think I found a good one?

Just a comment here on aftermarket pieces. I had to replace a fender on a "Ford" ranger last yr,ordered it from NAPA it came in a "offshore" wrapper & I thought "o boy here we go" It fit PERFECT on trial fit, took it back off & painted it,& re-installed it. Had no complaints at all after all the stories I'd heard about poor fit. The owner of truck was happy with the job & even paid his bill in CASH!!!!  Then I went to the BEER store.

I havad a friend order me in floor pans off shore and made in USA to compare for cost. The off shore was way better and cost less. The 70 Nova repop fender needed way too much to make it fit right so I located a set of NOS. I have an NOS fender for the  right side of the 65 Beaumont, still looking for drivers side. Repop rear quaters are a great fit. Happy with them
