What do you guys think?

I've seen this truck for sale about a year now. Am thinking of contacting him and seeing if I could trade my 65 Bel Air for it? Just wondering what everyone thinks...  Thanks, Ken

If you really want a truck, sure, get a truck. However unless you have ridden in one that old in the not too distant past, remember there is a reason they say "rides like a truck" eh?

Disc brakes up front are a real plus. Bed looks too nice to put a load in. Body color might grow on you. Can't go wrong with a 350/auto.

But I would keep your 65 Bel Air. And you can haul anything a truck can in one of your Safaris (without it getting wet, too).

Nice looking truck. I thought they changed to the one piece windshield in ~1950?

I had a '49 5 window a loonngg time ago. Never got it together - just bought it for the motor. Those cabs are tiny - cosy anyway. Definitely makes you feel that people have got bigger since then!

They actually went to a one piece windshield in the '54's. I've had a couple of these in the past and although cramped, they were fun. Never had one with a 350 though, might be interesting.  Heres a couple pics of the one I almost bought before the Bel Air....It was a 4-speed and thats the reason I didn't go for it. Its on a full size Blazer chassis.  Not much room the way the steering column is mounted...

Heres a couple pics of a couple of the ones I owned.  The brown one was a '54 and was original drivetrain, the Grey one was a 52 with a 250/ auto in it, as well had been changed to 5 bolt wheels.... The pic with the other green 52, was a friends truck... He still has it and is gonna fix it up...One of these decades( the pick is from the 80's)

That truck is not a 52 unless the doors were swapped. 52s have a thumb operated door handle, not the flip down, also a 52 has vent windows.

Having said that, it definitely is a nice truck!

Yeah, I've noticed that on quite a few trucks. I think only the 49-50's had the turn down handles and no vent windows. Not positive though.

I think it's a 50. The left cowl vent disappeared after 1950. The 49s said Thriftmaster on the side and 50s said Chevrolet. But its obviously altered, so it can be anything. Not that it matters, its a very nice rig.

Maybe it's his fridge that keeps needing moved!

It seems these old trucks have become real popular the last few years. I've seen a few beauties around - from stove-bolt stockers to some well done hot rods. This one looks like a nice driver.
