A new home for the Laurentian

It is with bittersweet emotion that I announce that my 69 Laurentian will be going to a new home. I have thought about this for quite a while and realized it's time for someone else to enjoy the car. The new owners, Rick and Jan have assured me that the car is going to a good home. Jan learned to drive in her dad's 69 Pontiac and she always wanted one of her own. She will retain her 350, which I think is best. Rick will be picking up the car next weekend.

Am I replacing her with another car? Not right away. I will continue to scan the classifieds for the "right car". I wouldn't mind one of the following:

68-9 Beaumont

69 2+2

Early 2 door Acadian (eg: 63)

68-9 Acadian 2 door

Pre-55 Pontiac 2 door (original drivetrain and patina)

I don't want any projects. I prefer to drive and maintain at this point. I have a son going to university in two years so I can't afford to spend a bunch of money into an old car.

Oh, and don't worry about the fate of Canadian Poncho. I plan to keep the site going until I'm too old to use a computer!

You'll probably see Rick and Jan on the site in the next day or so. Please give them a warm welcome.

 Todd

I'm happy for you Todd because this is obviously something you wanted to do, not just needed to do.

I think you need to come car hunting on the prairies....!!!

Sometimes it's best to move on Todd, the car gave you a few years of enjoyment, now it's time for it to do the same for it's new caretakers.

I'm anxious to see what ends up next in you're garage...with you it's always something different and interesting!

Cheers, Mark

I have a lot of respect for you Todd. I realize it is difficult to part with it but you have obviously lined up your priorities in the correct order.

I'm with you, my next Pontiac will be a 68-69 Beaumomt.

Poncho the cat is not for sale. He's a lifer. Sometimes I think the hunt for an old car is more fun than owning one!

Congratulations on the sale...........there's a 1955 or 56 2 dr htp Pontiac (might be Laurentian) around here in Powell River for sale. Let me know if you want me to try and find info/owner. It was for sale last year for around 10. The owner doesn't drive it much as he bought a 63/64 Nova and has been driving it. People don't like to travel to PR much cause of the ferries and that is probably why it never sold. It was black and blue if I remember correctly?

Good for you Todd to look for a new ride. Last Sunday when we talked at the car show you were still contemplating the sale. There are so many neat cars to pick from and the hunt is exciting.

Congrats ! especially in this economy--I really liked that car-but man I had a hard time getting a buyer for it-it did have its place in life far better than Mark leaving it hid in storage all those years-glad I drug that one out. I agree the hunt can often be better than the kill !

How much does Carl want for the 454 now ?

heres a cheap and I mean cheap temporary replacement with room for profit $$$$

Rick and Jan must be tickled pink as they itch the scratch that set them to looking for a 1969 Pontiac. I'm sure they will enjoy it. I must say that I am a little surprised that you have let your Laurentian go, but really I think your reasoning is sound. Besides, the 1969 Laurentian thing for you can partially be summarized by the expression BTDT. A different Canadian Pontiac will also give you new experiences and an even higher stature here among us. biggrin

Hey, I wonder where that gold 69 2+2 427 4-speed car out of Selkirk is now? That one would be a pretty involved project and therefore not what you seek, but that car needs to be saved!

Get yourself the nicest driver you can find and start having even more fun. Best of luck Todd!
