What do you DISLIKE about your job?

Ok, since Darryl is chicken and won't start this thread, I will.....biggrin

Are you listening Darry???

Ok people, you had the chance to say what you like about your job. What do you dislike about your job?

And by the way, I will admit that part of the reason I have posted the job "like" and job "dislike" threads is to get an idea about what sounds like fun and what doesn't. I have told my boss that by fall 2012 I will be looking at "options". Gotta know what is out there that is fun (and also what isn't fun...)

The hours. Rude customers. The commute in the winter. The environment. We work in a "Drive through" that is stinking hot in the summer and freezing in the winter. Since our lube bays are also in there, it's noisy as well. Some of my co workers have never worked anywhere else and have real bad attitudes. There's a lot of infighting and back stabbing.

 Yep ...

There isn't anything I like about my job. Not one thing. It's VERY dull! I know it's sad to say, but after working almost 23 years for the government (and doing exciting work with the military, RCMP, etc. in 4 different departments), the past 3+ years have been like jail time to me.

I'm not a chauvinistic male by any means, but I am the only male in my unit, amongst 12 females. All I hear about are "female problems", "girl stuff", diets, child-birth & rearing from the female perspective, etc. Try being in a unit staff meeting with 12 women! ohmygod.gif

The one little bright spot is that a couple of the women are really pretty cool to talk to once you get them away from the "pack" (and they are not hard on the eyes ... ahhhh Kelly & Juliewink)

I hate the whiners, they complain about how they hate the work here, but they like the money so they wont quit, and the supervisors that dont know the job but think they do.The people that have never worked any where else so they dont know what it is like in the "real world" We have more people here that can go to the gym everyday but cant do any work cause it hurts them...and on and on.....disbelief

Because the company I work for is owned by a "Corporation", they insist on the H.R. department hires mechanics. So a 22 year old with a degree in "something" deciedes who's going to work in the shop. 9 tims out of 10, the choice is poor. The hands on people have no say any more. I can't believe the rotten mechanis out there these days, and once they get in the door, it's next to impossible to get rid of them, that includes the occasional thief they hiredisbelief.

Hate the guy whos half my age and calls in sick at least 4 days a month because he cant be botherd to come in. (I gave him the nickname "sicknote")  Ive taken less sick days in the last 20 years then he has in 6 months.

Also hate that another guy i work with has horrible temper tantrums (screams and throws his tool/ brakes things and he is my age. Wow grow up a bit.

Unlike some though I actually like my job. (painter/bodyman) It's just a couple co-workers that make it misrable sometimes.

Clients who don't pay on time after insisting they get their stuff early.

People who think that the computer does all the work just by pushing a magic button...

That good brushes are getting harder and harder to find.

people that don't take responsibility. ie call in sick on a Monday... guess what , we all know why you are sick on Mondays and Fridays...and people that want to blame someone else for their problems instead of taking responsibility and making a difference out there....

Back yard mechanics, people that are cheap, people that dont think they should pay for my experience, or dont understand why we need to charge for diagnoses because our "scan tool tells us exactly what the problem is" I also hate other shops that trash each other you never see a Dr put down another Dr. I really feel Automotive technicans dont get enough respect, mostly because there are so many back yard guys working for cheap, it is easy to be cheap when you dont pay insurance, taxes, and all the other cost involved with owning a General repair shop. I bet I have well over $150,000 worth of equipment and tools so we can fix just about anything out there. I also really hate salt water dripping in my eyes. Other then that I love my job!LOL
