I hate paper work, government forms. Smoking on the job site (don't hate the smokers, just the smoke) Filling up the work truck with gas. Tools or machines that don't work. Mud. Some building inspectors.
lack of work ethics of the newer generation. full timers call in sick all the time figuring that the old retired guy (me) doesn't mind covering their shifts. little do they know that i have call display and only answer when i feel like it, unlike when i was in the military i had to answer all calls. last time i called in sick was sometime in 84.
I hate those guys that you train up on a piece of equipment, They talk like they've been there done that but couldn't run a shopping cart, and leave after the first pay!
How about this.....When you have a "I Hate My Job" day, try this:
On your way home from work, stop at your pharmacy and go to the thermometer section and purchase a rectal thermometer made by Johnson & Johnson
Be very sure you get this brand. When you get home, lock your doors, draw the curtains and disconnect the phone so you will not be disturbed.
Change into very comfortable clothing and sit in your favorite chair. Open the package and remove the thermometer. Now, carefully place it on a table or a surface so that it will not become chipped or broken.
Now the fun part begins. Take out the literature from the box and read it carefully. You will notice that in small print there is a statement:
"Every Rectal Thermometer made by Johnson & Johnson is personally tested and then sanitized ".
Now, close your eyes and repeat out loud five times,"I am so glad I do not work in the thermometer quality control department at Johnson & Johnson."
HAVE A NICE DAY AND REMEMBER, THERE IS ALWAYS SOMEONE ELSE WITH A JOB THAT IS MORE OF A PAIN IN THE A$$ THAN YOURS!
Working for a company that is unionized! Seem's the lazy and the stupid alway's benefit. Also realized that bettering yourself by education and experience doesn't alway's get you ahead but ass kissing does and I don't do that. You should get ahead by merit not because you've been with a company 25 year's. Working outside year round, +30 in the summer in a rubber suit and -40 in the snow and wind during the winter month's!
Seeing kids hurt or worse. Lower GI bleeds (very gross). Seeing the system fail the people who need the help most. Having to leave a steak dinner on the table for a pot on the stove somewhere.
Not too much to complain about.

I asked this question because I wanted to know what job to pick.
You guys are really changing my thinking. So many people complain about the "people" part of the job, not the job itself. This has me thinking that maybe I should stick where I am as long as I can, simply because of the fact that I really do work with a good group of people.

I hate unions that protect the non productive pre-madonnas who think they deserve to have a job cause they think its they're right. As a foreman of structual steel fabrication it pains me to layoff the hard working young family man over senior dogfs that don't give a crap.
