After three years of Toyotaville, I am heading back to Domesticland. I accepted a job offer at our local Pentastar dealer. I timed the "commute" - 3 minutes and I get my weekends off. Ahh, the freedom!
I start May 24. I'm taking some much needed time off in between jobs.
Good for you Todd the freedom is what we all need.I work (12 hr) am splits and have to work on Saturdays. With Sunday Monday off.I won't see summer holidays for another 6 to 8 years, and weekends off with a 8hr straight days for another 8to9years.It really SUCKS
And make sure you make the most of your time off in between jobs!
When I was just a pup (23) I quit one job, had the next one lined up as a GM parts manager but took 6 weeks off in between. I had a wonderful time, worked on my cars, went to the city for supper, etc etc!

time is the most important thing in the end nothing else matters-congrats
Exactly!
I have compared notes with some other parts managers re salaries. Yes, they are better paid, in some cases quite a bit. However, 6 1/2 mile drive through the country, one stop sign, 10 minute drive at the most, it all is too nice to think about what could be ($$$) if I went elsewhere.
I have a friend who I'm sure is very well paid, (aerospace industry) but spends 2 ours a day on the road, wears out a vehicle every 5 or 6 years, leaves for work around 5 AM, so on and so on. Not my style anyway.
You're gonna love that extra time at home...

i agree with carl. i retired from the military 4 years ago. could have worked for another 15. i was due up to go oversea again and my wife and i crunched the numbers. quality of life became more important then the dollar. i don't miss the commute, filling up the beater every 2 days. having to answer all phone calls in case they needed me to come and so on. mind you i went from lots of money to no spare time to no spare money and lots of time. but i'm there every day to put the kid on the bus. now put something in that garage.
Same job- Service advisor. Hopefully it won't be so freaking insane as where I am now.
Won't be insane? No shortage of warranty work at a Chrysler dealership! Just kidding (sort of)... my brother has been a SA at Chrysler for probably 10-15 years... My dd has exclusively been that brand for over 12 years now... sebring convert, jeep wrangler...
I used to work for a Chrysler dealer about 10 years ago so I have a pretty good recollection as to what they are like. This store is the second highest seller of Dodge trucks in Ontario so I will be exposed to a lot of Rams. I'm actually considering buying a bicycle to ride to work on nice days.
All the best to you and the new job. Nothing beats having weekends off!

I made a potato gun two years ago. Definitely a big boy toy. I tried it out on my shed, and it went right through! I made the barrel a little too large, its hard to find potatoes large enough.
Congrats Todd! .......Big changes in 2011!, all the best.
