Has anyone ever taken the clock from an Acadian apart ??

I bought a NOS on at a swap meet this weekend (Chey II)

I can change the face (no scound hand but im going to try the hands from mine.

or shorten the Chevy II ones

the clock seems to work sometimes.

Should i pull it apart and grease (sewing machine oil)

spary the carp out of it with WD-40 from the underside , let it sit so all the crap can run out of it, leave it for a few days then try it. If it works for 15 sec. means the coil is good, just might be gummed up with 40 years of crap...just maybe !

will try that, used a good gun oil spray but will do the WD-40 and see.

as you see by pic, it is faily clean, the copper spring is what power streaches

when 12v applied, the when it is pulled back and contacts close it streaches out again.

but it will not run long enough to close contacts again..

Spent many hours on the clock on my 60 Paris, not worth it, will not keep time.

yeah,,if you have a worn out spring issue...might not be worth the hassle.

since you have it stripped down,, have you thought about buying a hobby clock and fabbing to the backside, extend the wires to convenient location with the AA battery were it can be easily changed. I've seen it done.

I tried the spray on 2 non-working clocks, and cleaning the contacts, both came to life and have been working since. My 67 GP owners manual states that a complete 24 hour turn of hour hand using the knob to the right will add 5 minutes, and a complete 24 hour turn to the left will lose 5 minutes off of the clock speed. So in theory if your clock gains a hour a day, 12 complete 360 degree turns of the hour hand will get it back on track. I dont have the manual in front of me, so I may have the directions backwards, but it is a fact. Before I knew this, I was making my clock faster everyday by always rotating the knob to the right to get the correct time!
