'69 Front Valance

Is it true that there was a "plastic" valance made by GM for '69 B-bodied cars? What models was it available on and was it better than the metal one? Which one came first? I have never heard of this before. Can anybody shed some light on this?

I've never heard that. My Laurentian had a NOS valance put on in 78 and it was steel.

The reason I ask is in the Canadian GM parts manual it denotes that the valance part number is for a steel panel and is "serviced in place of plastic panel". I have never seen one myself. Evidently they didn't hold up too well.
