That season again, the car is pretty much ready, after a few mechanical issues. Last thing I will need is clucth/plate/bearing, not gone but getting soft.
Question, she has a 3 speed manual, 235 engine 6cyl, I checked with Eklers for parts, they want to know the diamater of the clutch, number of splines on plate and short or long bearing. Anyone know off hand this information for my car without pulling out the stuff. Let me know, thanks.
You guys have been a great help so far. Once she comes out with a good wash and polish I will have more pics.
I got all the specs from Vintage GM. It gives everything but diamater of clutch, # of splines on pressure plate, or if its a long or short release bearing. She is going in garage again in a week for brakes and waterpump replacement, my mechanic says he should be able to tell by pulling the inspection plate what it is. At those prices with s/h I want to be 100 % sure ya know. Thanks guys
If you look at the specs. they are all 1 1/8" shaft size & all are 10 spline so it's just the t/out brg. you need to spec once you find out the clutch size!!!!

The original is a long release bearing, all 6 cyl of that year had long bearings with a low diaphragm but way back when if we ordered a new clutch assembly it came with a high diaphragm and had to use the short bearing, so it all depends what clutch pressure plate you use, low diaphragm. long release, high diaphragm, short release, either will work, personaly I would use the high and short, easier to get.
