1984 gmc 1500 5L where do the wires go?


hey guys im wondering which wire goes where ive been using the google looking for the spark plug wire to spark plug order i can't figure out where they all go?  if some one knows a good site or if you have a 305 a little description  would be nice =)

Jonathon, if you pulled the dist. out of engine or it wasn't in,you have to get # 1 cyl. up on TDC [top dead centre] of firing stroke, then line up the rotor to where #1 is on cap. you will have to allow for gear engagement which means you have to go a little past on the rotor to allow for the movement as it engages in "cam" drive!!!

they where never on half the sparkplugs where broken =) so i got the new plugs just need to get the firing order/ wire loaction

OK , you will still have to get the engine "up" on # 1 TDC & see where the "rotor is pointing inside the cap[ both valves closed on # 1 & piston on TDC] Then wire it 1 8 4 3 6 5 7 2 making sure you go in the rotation that the dist. turns. If you can spin the engine on the starter,pull # 1 s/plug & put your thumb over the s/plug hole till you start to feel compression,then turn by hand till piston is at top, timing mark on balancer will line up with TDC on tab. Other way is to pull the rocker cover, & rotate the engine till int. valve closes,then rotate engine till piston comes up to TDC on tab, then follow the firing order & rotation of dist.
