vacuum leaks

i have alot of ports wide open if say i had a large enough vacuum leak could that mess with the air to fuel mixture enough to say make the car run very lean and not start. i say this i asked my autoshop teacher whatr was goin on and he said it sounds like a vacuum leak.....also when pete was here i put alot of fuel into it and we almost had it going so im thinking that might be it?

Even with every vacuum port open it would start, especially with the amount of fuel you seem to be pouring down it. It wouldn't idle at all with huge vacuum leaks but would start and rev up. I'm sure you have an ignition timing issue. If you want to pm me your phone # I could all you tonight and talk you through getting it timed.

Thanks

Randy
