Removal and rebuild of the 8.875" 12 bolt.

It can be smooth when the bolts turn like new. Even the lines came undone. No rust. Drivers side needed the Vice Grip, but only just (because I wasn't willing to wait for the PB Blaster to work). But I'm sort of worried about the flex line to main chassis line. Cracked it open and pulled the axles. They hav...

STICKY:
67 and older 4 speed shifter restoration
(Preview)
I've decided to make an attempt at "tightening up" an original shifter for my 66. This is the same shifter body that was used in Canadian Pontiacs, Beaumonts, Acadians, numerous Chevrolets and I think maybe some Buicks prior to 1967. I have it all disassembled and need to order some parts for it. Fo...

I've thought it might of of interest to document my TH400 build, hopefully sparking some discussion around of what is best. Like my rear end build, the transmission was originally one of those things "Black art" and best thought as being left to the pro's. I have had very good success with my 12 bolt bui...

Adding engine oil to gas tank
(Preview)
So.....I was thinking about my grandfather recently, and a random thought came to my mind and of course it got me thinking. I have a memory of being with him at a gas station in the 1980s. I think we were in his 1977 Buick LeSabre. It was a full service station and my grandfather opens the trunk. He gets ou...

QJet Gurus: How do I speed up the "off choke"?
(Preview)
Gurus; How do I get my Qjet to come off the choke a little quicker in the cold? On my 327 when I rebuilt it, I did the partial restriction of the heat riser passage at the intake gasket, and I used a gutted heat riser as well. Even when I see 180 on the gauge, she still stays on high idle when out on the road, until...

I have a 1969 Pontiac Grande Parisienne 4door 427 V8 335 hp , but it has dual exhaust. It is original and my grandfather bought it in 1969 from Roy Pett GM in Lindsay Ontario. It has never seen a Canadian winter. It went to Florida until 1981. Stored for 28 years it looks a little rough but it is all there. A li...

Help identifying 4 speed bench seat handles.

Tonight I went on a mission. I'm trying to sort out what bench seat shifter handles fit what cars, and what each one looks like. Quite a bit of info online but from what I can tell, LOTS of wrong info on this topic, so I dug into the limited resources I have. From what I can find, from 64-67 Canadian Pontiacs...

SBC Main seal question,

Question; Can one change a SBC 2 piece seal with the engine in place, in a 65 B Body? I have just detected a small drip in the 65. Don't think its the pan. If it stays this small I'll not worry too much. Second, Will this wee drip eventually foul my clutch?

12 bolt ratios. Availability question.
(Preview)
Was there ever such a thing as a 3.23 ring and pinion for a 8.875" 12 bolt? The reason I ask, is in my thinking, it would be a great on road compromise ratio for a big car with a M20. And I'll be building a 4 leg 12 bolt for my 65 and already have an good open 3.08 carrier. My current 10 bolt has a 3.36 since it was a s...

Engine pulled and heads rebuilt on Pontiac after 50 years
(Preview)
I decided after having some issues with the plugs fouling in cylinders 5,8 and a bit of a choppy idle i would have the heads pulled as the engine has never been touched. Compression was tested and strong at 175 and 180 across all cylinders and the engine was running pretty well overall, I was pretty optim...
