Carpet

Hi, could someone tell me the steps to installing carpet!!! Right now I have the painted floor , and I'm waitin on some sound deadener tar thingamajig!! So what's next......!? Also the previous owner welded something on the floor between the seats, some device to lock shifter in it's place (anti-theft), so what does the original floor pan look like, as I want to u install console at some point, but not sure it will fit because of his doo-dad!! Thanks Rich

After cleaning and POR'ing my floor boards I installed the carpet from NOS. It had the backing on the carpet. Very happy with the product and service from NOS...

Lefty, by the looks of the picture you just cut holes for the seat bolts. I am not sure what the video shows but those bolts should be hidden.

Interesting. I did the same as Lefty. I cut "x's" so that the floor mounted studs could poke through. Didn't know there was another option?...

my "Bolts and washers " sit on top of the carpet, they are chrome plated
I used a 45cal wad cutter "punch " to make my bolt holes by pushing a small finishing nail through
the carpet.

In most cases, i mount the shifter first, two reasons: its a lot of work to try and locate holes with out snagging the loop carpet and causing the tiger stripe look and it allows you to be solid to the floor and any adjustments is going to be ez er cuz the carpet is there yet; second in most causes  the console to the floor isnt exact so i start  cut  carpet from binding up the center(take a ruff mesurement first), (install Rear first), then remove the underlay a couple inche on either side of cut. start by glueing(i advise glue, some dont like it but i wont shift) up the out side edges  around the front ouside bucket bracket(last pic) cuz the carpet is molded to that shape. Note losely install belt bols seat bolts gas pedal studs, use olfa blade to trim.  once carpet in test fit console and usually just forward of the shifter where the console contours the floor, there can be gaps, depending on ur expectations you may wanna use the cut of underlay from under the console the pad it out.

hmmm any further questions leave a post

thanks i hope it helps

Check out the link at TC. When the carpet is installed you should not see the bolts/nuts at all. It is quite easy to do. It basically shows the way they come from the factory

Can't really see it here in a apicture of my interior but all you end up seeing is the vertical portion of the leg
