June 2011 Feature Car

Have you ever noticed that some cars look best kept stock and others look great with some tastefull modifications? In my humble opinion, the 67 Beaumont is one of those cars that look great stock or modified. Take Leo and Pat Levack's super straight '67 Beaumont SD.  With it's jet black paint, custom wheels and big block power, this is one SD that I'd love to have parked in my garage!

Take it away Leo.

"I would like to introduce you to my pride and joy. This is my 1967 Beaumont Sport Deluxe.

It has a completely re-built 454 cu. in. big block, bored .030 over, with a 750 holley carb., a nice cam, a high performance Edelbrock chrome intake manifold, 3" Hedman ceramic coated headers, with 3" stainless pipes front to back and dual stainless Magna-Flow mufflers, plus a 3:91 - 12 bolt posi. rear end and a 400 turbo hydro-matic transmission.

It is painted Toxedo Black,it's arrow straight with a mirror finish, 450 hp and chrome I only dreamed of.

I bought a new 1967 Beaumont SD in March of 1967.I was 18 years old at the time and I don't think too many people can understand the love I had for this car, and the fun I had with it, while I had it.I sold it in 1970 and purchased a more practical car for a newly married man and about to start a family. It broke my heart to get rid of it, and discussed getting another one with my wife for the next 30 years. In May of 2000 I retired and we decided to try to find another just like it. For the next three years we attended every car show, cruise, show and shine within a 100 mile radius. On occasion even farther. We found one we liked in Edmonton Alberta,Sherwood Park to be more specific. This one was a 427 with 425 hp, also with a t-400 trans.(Supposedly one of 9 built especially for Expo-67, one on each pedestal at the nine entrances of the Expo. I was never able to confirm that as a fact, since I did not go to the Expo.) After talking to this guy several times and watching the video that he sent us of the car, we left Windsor and drove up there in May of 2001 to buy it. The owner took it out of storage when we arrived, took 2 days to clean it up and said he fell in love with it again, and changed his mind and would not sell it. Disappointed and more than just a little upset we came back home and continued our search until we found this one in Clinton Ontario, in April of 2003. I did an inspection and took it for a ride (there was a few things that needed attention but it was a solid car) and bought it on the spot before he could change his mind.

After a lot of time and money, in May of 2007 my Beaumont Sport Deluxe was ready to be taken to car shows and be a contender.

The feelings I had for my car in 1967 Beaumont SD are back and this time are here to stay. In my opinion there isn't a nicer car on the road.

Beautiful car. The only car nicer than a 67 Beaumont is a nicer 67 Beaumont IMO.

Sweet car!.
L35 or L34 when new?.

I love the Expo story too!.
Was the guy saying L72's were in the supposed Expo cars or it had a 427/425 in it when you looked at it?.

Thanks everyone for all the positive comments. We really appreciate it.

The guy I bought it from told me it was a 396/350hp. When I got it rebuilt I found out it was a 454.

The guy in Edmonton told me that his was an original from the factory 427/425hp. and there were only 9 built especially for the Montreal Expo. 67  ?????

Thanks again

Leo
