I did a rebuild 2yrs ago 461 stroker and i used threaded plugs in the oil galleys behind the timing chain. I think they were 3/8 pipe so i bought the proper bit and tap. When i did this mod i was very carefull not to screw the plugs in to far because you can block the passage-way. The key is to measure carefully. When the plugs are secure you can then use a chissel and secure the plugs in place. I also used brass plugs in the lower block 1/8 i believe.
Just a note the distributor plug bit size is 30thou pretty small, i picked them up at machine shop suppply house .The hole is small because of pressure drop if to big, a fine spray is all thats needed. Good luck with the mods its worth it.

I did the same thing on my Ram Air III block back in 1996
