Our very own Carl (C2) & Fred (68SD) - are Poncho's Whoswhovians!! Please read all of the article below by Jim McGowan to fully understand what I mean here.
This article is from page 96 of the July 2011 issue of Hemming's Muscle Machines -Volume 8 - Issue 10 - #94.
Let me explain what Jim McGowan is saying, "Are You A Whoswhovian? Waht the heck is a Whoswhovian? Some people in the collector/muscle car hobby are individuals who have it all, the elite of the hobby, winners of the big national car awards, famous-name collectors, and who we all, to some degree envy. These are the folks whose latest car build makes all the magazines; everyone wants their autograph. THEY are the Who's Who of the hobby, or as I like to call them, the Whoswhovians."
"While watching several episodes of different televised auto auctions, I noticed the same bidder faces popping up, paying mega dollars for nice cars that could be for a collection, museum or for resale - it doesn't matter with the fact that there's no shortage of "cash for cars" so they certainly qualify for the highest tier on the Whoswhovian scale of enthusiast."
"The Whoswhovian is not necessarily an automotive snob. Some of these "Haves" are down-to-earth, regular guys and there are those who wouldn't hobnob with the likes of us - the latter are just the "Haves". Of course, most of us are "Nots", while not nessarily 3rd-class enthusiasts, we just don't have the "Have" part like a Whowhovian does. We are Wannabeians, the rest of us regular folks who scratch out a living and have just ONE hobby car but we comprise the largest segment of the hobby; and as a group, own more collector cars than the "Have" Whoswhovians. The main difference is still there: the "Have" Whoswhovian writes a check for parts or cars while us Wannabeians chuck a few more bucks in the coffee can buried in the backyard to save up"
"With that said, it's human nature for a Wannabeian to wannabe a Whoswhovian; we all want what we can't have without winning the lottery. BUT DON'T GET ME WRONG: Lots of money alone doesn't necessarily qualify anyone to be a Whoswhovian, it just makes it easier. Ahy person who is well known within various collector car/muscle car circuits could be a candidate; the enthusiast who is - almost/maybe/could be - a partial lower-level Whowhovian nominated not so much for being RICH as for being dedicated and contributing to the hobby."
"EXAMPLE: A person who works tirelessly for his or her car club who helps organize raffles, shows, club events, and so on. This is a valuable person to all in club, even indispensable to keep functioning, members value their contributions and should consider such person a Whoswhovian."
"ANOTHER EXAMPLE: The "go to" guy (or gal) for technical experience, a regular person who is always there to help another enthusiast, a kind person who always puts needy car people first. This is a rare individual these days, but they do exist. I think this person would qualify to be put on the local Whoswhovian list. These are Wannabeians who are regular car folks who can step into the "SACRED" realm through selfless deeds and actions. This is a melding of Wannabeians and Whoswhovians, a crossover, salt-of-the-earth combination that keeps our hobby healthy and growing."
With all that said and done, I hereby nominate Carl (C2) and Fred (SD68) as our Whoswhovians here on Canadian Poncho.

Very true and thank you for posting this article. I agree that there are many "Whoswhovians" in this hobby without whom there would be no hobby. It is the little guys at the local car shows and cruise nights that really make this hobby what it is today. I have said it before and I will say it again. The cars are the catylist that bring us car nuts together.
We also have some great people doing a lot of work and offering tireless time and effort into making information available to the masses.
I will be the first in likely a long list to nominate 69 Laurentian (Todd)
and second to nominate 68SD (Fred)
