Hello again folks. I am at the point where it would be nice to put the correct engine back in my car. I need a 1967 250 engine and it also came from the factory with power steering. any parts or help with leads would be awsome!. i will pay cash or trade a good running 1974 350 4 bolt maine 350 engine as that is what is in the car right now. cheers.
good idea and i would probably do that..oh wait theres just one thing missing, the 250 engine LOL you do bring up something to think about in regards to just driving the car and storing the 250. But on the other hand I have always been a purist in everything i collect and orignality is king to me.

It was just a suggestion Purity is OK and often Boring
I don't have any 250's lying around, anytime I got a car with one in it, I wrapped a chain around it and used it as a boat anchor.
But, I did recently read a post from a member on Steve's Nova site that wanted to get rid of his power steering on a 1st or 2nd gen car. He was requesting information on what parts to replace when trashing his P.S. I don't remember the exact answer but I know it was very simple as the P.S. unit is made up of a slave cylinder and control valve mounted on the steering linkage, not connected to the steering box. It also has external pump mounted on the block and connected to the cylinder on the linkage. I know they are not cheap but all these parts are available through Chevy2only.com
If your not familiar with steve's, I'm sure someone else on this site is a member. Also, I do believe most of the componets of the P.S. are reproduced now, try NNN or Classic Industries.

I am not understanding your comment about no external pump mounted on the block. These systems use a traditional steering pump, or do I not catch what you are saying.

I corrected my statement. I was trying to make the point that the early P.S. was not controled by the steering box.

1969 Chev 250 Cubic Inch - 6 Cylinder & 2 Speed Power Glide. This motor is out of my 1969 Beaumont. Motor has less than 2000km since rebuild and runs perfect. Power glide transmision was rebuilt at the same time.

I have a ps pump that looks like that. Was in the trunk of my 63 Bonneville and I don't know if it's the same or not or if it needs a rebuild or not. It looks good, all black & shiney & all! It's yours if you want it.
