I discovered that in 67 and up, there was a drip rail molded into the chrome door frame along the front edge of the vent window. I don't have this in my 65 and have not seen it 66 either so does anyone know if 67 was the first year for this or do I possibly have the wrong door frame as they are identical to a 2dr hardtop, possibly a 4dr too. Will 67 frame fit 65 66? This area leaks bad at the roof joint, worse when the door is open.
sounds like it may be a 'A' pillar seal. Runs up the windshield post and seals against the top when it is in the raised position. All convertibles had this but for some reason it sometime is missing. Maybe because it was exsposed to the elements it deteriorated more quickly. Your application is 1 year only; in stock; cost $63.70 pair. I know in my '67, the drivers door was changed sometime in it's life before I got it and it doesn't have the drip rail. The passenger door does have it. Yes, I get water in mine as well where the 2 seals join.
I am not sure if this was the first year but I will take notice when I see a '65 or a '66 in the future!!!
And since I did get all my seals new from NOS back in '95, maybe that is why they started the drip rail as the seals couldn't hold back the water and it started so spilling inside?

I have new A pillar seals where the top of the seal ends at an angle mating with the roof seal, but poorly. Along with the incorrect vinyl roof and new rail seals that are too short, the leaks are everywhere. These can be adjusted a bit but the "drip rail" I am referring isn't a seal but is part of the steel frame on the door and runs down the inside edge . . . can't see it on the outside.
I think you might be talking about the die-cast chrome frame in which the front quarter vent glass sits? Is that correct?
If so, I have only seen this once before and that's now on a 1966 Cadillac Eldorado a friend of mine has here. His frames were quite corroded and he found a replacement set of excellent ones on an original 1965 Buick Electra.
So, I'm wondering if the "high line" cars, Cadillac & Buick got better sealing door frames? Maybe you can investigate that???
