im sure theres a question about this on here already but i have voltage drop when i try starting the car. it shows 14 volts and then when i turn the key it drops to eight. I havent been able to start the car, it just wont kick over! aahhh! lol
the battery is brand new, but i was just reading an old post that says i need a 12v keyed source and that the wire that goes on the batt. terminal on the dist. might not be a big enough wire. I also just realized i might have done the spark plug wires backwards! duh!! LOL!!
its turning over fine, just wont fire up. I put a voltage gage in it and it shows between 12-13 volts, and then when i turn the key over to start it the voltage drops down to 8 volts and the lights that illuminate in the volt gauge(as well as the temp and oil) go out. Do you have pics of your 58 in primer Nailhead?
i have power going up to the dist. but no spark!! Could it be the pickup coil? I was reading that they just drop dead without warning usually. Plus, its the one that was in my 79 trans am, so it was used from 79 till 2000 and then i put it on the 59 and it was working until a couple weeks ago. Strange stuff! LOL
i got it started today, but when i crank it over, then let go of the key it starts, not while im craking it?? So i imagine i need a new ignition switch, which i was told they do have problems with them. I was also thinking the ground straps might be a bit of a problem too. Where are they on a 59 chevy?
