need 1957 pathfinder water pump.Chevrolet will work? s 6 engine


I can't find a water pump for a 57 pontiac pathfinder.Will a chevrolet pump work?

engine is straight 6?

I believe a 235 water pump would work since the Pontiac 261 and Chevy 235 are based on the same block.

and if you have the pump in hand don't mess with another pump, send it to be rebuilt, it's not expensive.

Especially, save the pulley - they are near impossible to find at a decent price.

Ray is correct, Chev 235 pump fits just fine on the 261.

I bought one at napa for a 235 and it is just the same,the prablem is the hub height that is 5 1/4. mine is about 5 inches.they have another one 4 1/8 and i think it will be to short .

If i can not get one were can i send mine to be rebuild?

You will need a 261 pump. Part number is different from a 235. These pumps come up on ebay once in a while. Check the casting number on your original pump and try and find one to match.

 You probably won't live near me, but you can go to your autoparts store near you and get info for, you will find, if not send me yours.
