My guess is 283, 2 BBL unless you have an "L" option listed on the cowl tag - such as:

L26 230-140hp
L30 327-275 Hp
L34 396-350 Hp

As far as I know, the 283, because it was standard, did not have an option code.

Yes it does have A51 option and M35 option The fuel is 3/8 inch.

I believe 73617 indicates a 8 cyl, 2door hardtop Beaumont Custom, and 831724 is the "unit number".    A51 represents bucket seats.  M35 is a 2sp Powerglide.  (All of which you probably already know.)  For a more complete break down, you can order the build sheet from GM Canada for about $80.00 from:
