time to do my trunk pans

i am looking  at trunk pans   for  my  67  , i was going throught   the Golden Leaf catalogue

and they   have everything  to do my  whole  trunk

here is what i am looking for

rh and lh and center pan

rh and lh  braces ( these go  on the edges of the side pans by the wheel well)

2 gas tank braces and straps  and  the  gas tank

lh  and  rh  floor drop off

also the rear cross rail  ( this part has the slots to put in the carriage bolts  for the tank straps)

so could some one tell me about  any suppliers or give me an honest opinion  about   Golden leaf automotive

i am hoping to get some  parts that give me a reasonnable fit to the car that are not  a thin foil gage

thanks

you can buy a complete trunk pan with all braces welded on

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1966-1967-66-67-Chevelle-Malibu-Full-Trunk-Floor-/330566616472?pt=Vintage_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Year%3A1967%7CModel%3AChevelle&hash=item4cf74e4598

that option came throught my mind , but that full pan will only go in with the frame removed ?????

thats why i want to stick to the 1/3 1/3 1/3 idea.......unless that full thing can go in by the trunk opening.

or buy the full pan...and cut it half your self,, install and weld in?

that will save you a bunch of welding?

yup  that could  be  another option  , save  on  welds  , but  i want  to also see the cost  of both options

i figure the full pan does not comme with the drop offs  but  it comes with all the brackets ans tank braces ?????

i am  also   not  in the rotisserie mode   , ans  your story  does not  inspire me   to get the full pan  , but  what happened with  the full  pan  , why  would it not fit  ????

if i get the ful one  i will cut it in half   , or  i get the 3 sections

think  ricky  think !   ehhh  my  name  is  Louis   sorry !

wouldn't fit through either opening. top the opening was to small and from the bottom the quarters were in the way. if i wanted to do the whole pan i would have had to cut out the sides/quarters. i'm figuring this is why they offer a 3 piece pan set.

so the only way to get the full pan in is if the side quarters are cut ????

if i buy the full pan arround 450.00 it is cheaper to do the 3 pan job , but more welding i guess

the 3 pans are 125.00 also 61.00 for the both gas tank braces and 70.00 for the two side braces and finally 108 for the cross rail ( where the tank straps hook in on the bumper side  under the filler panel  )

total 364.00 vs 450.00 and with the full pan i dont have to weld the side braces and the tank braces and the cross rail !!!
so corect me if i am wrong but for 86,00 i can save quite a lot of welding !!!

so i guess its worth the 86 bucks to go with the full pan and cut in half ??

well today i finally made up my mind ( busy as hell these days ) but i have to get back to work on the old B in my garage

my plan was to get the engine rebuilt before winter and get the trunk floor done
the  283  will be  ready to  drop in  in mid october .
so i ordered a full pan instead of welding a bunch of parts together ( braces , tank braces and the floor sections )

but damn i hate to cut that sucker in half to get it in , or i remove the frame from the car

could any one tell me how much work is involved with removing the frame off my car ???????????????????????  the motor and tranny  are out  of the car  and  the  interior is completely  gutted  also . So  do   i  only  have to remove  the body  mounts   and thats  it , ?????  also  a couple  of wires ans connectors  ????

or i cut that pan in half and weld it in there

i also got a brand new gas tank and straps ans harware kit all from the parts place arround chicago illinois.

been holding it for months , my winter job is snow removal, and where not removing much snow this winter , i have some loose time ,so i got to get the old B ready to put back the engine in pretty soon in the spring, and try it on the road a bit

brand new tank and straps are waiting to go under there.

i just have to decide either to cut that trunk pan in half and get it in , or lift off the frame of the car ( it would not need much to do so )
