Convertible Top Cleaning

Anyone know of a really good cleaner for convertible tops. My top is not weathered to a grey but the white isn't as white as it used to be. Thanks JC

I used a fairly concentrated pail of laundry soap and a soft bristle brush on a previous convertible I had with a white top. I was very happy with the results. On my boat upholstery I have used the orange hand cleaner (think it is Fast Orange or something like that) and it does wonders. I would try it if the laundry soap doesn't do the trick. That grit in the hand cleaner is quite effective.

Any thoughts on a faded black top? Is there anything to brighten it up?

It seems with the black ones you can't use anything harsh because when they get cleaner they just get lighter.  I have never looked into if they can dye them or not.

Laundry Soap - that makes good sense being it is sort of a cloth. I'll give it a try tomorrow after work. Thanks

I used a product called RaggTopp on my wifes car this spring and couldn't believe it was the same top.

So which kit would I need for a '68 2+2 - the vinyl or the fabric?

So what should I be using on a burgundy canvas top?

Spray Nine on any convertible top will do a really good job cleaning the material. Spray on a one foot square section, scrub with a soft long bristle brush and rinse off with a garden hose. Once clean use whatever vinyl or fabric protector you use on your cars interior. The kit NOS sells is something I would also try. I cleaned our 95 Mustang convertible the spray nine way and was very happy with the result. Being a Florida car the top was very dirty with a black type of dirt.

I used westleys blech-wite tire cleaner.    Works awesome,  but be sure to hose it down good after.

        Vinyl for vinyl

There is a kit for the newer fabric tops

I used RAGGTOPP on my "new" 2010 mustang last year

, and it left it looking brand new.........
