Should be a 400 sbc in that car in 75 I believe. I am golfing in Stouffville on Thursday, might make a side trip to the ATM on theway. Would make a nice parts hauler or tow vehicle.

Ha! I sold mine for $1,800 in 1980. Shoulda kept it a while longer.

The incredible thing is those rub strips are still on the back clamshell door.

Most of mine had fallen off by the time I sold it!

Here is engine chart for 1976, I am 99.9% certain it is a carry over from 1975 so according to this it's a 400 4bbl and I do believe it is a small block. You will need to use your Zoom feature to read it.

I had to take my drivers test in the Chevy equivalent of this SW.

What a beast. Parallel parked it though, within 6 inches of the curb.

I'm afraid to say it here, but I think it looks like a great deal too! biggrin

I'm a fan of the "clamshell" wagons and shudder every time I see one derbied (PC disclaimer: "Not that there's anything wrong with that").

Ray, you should get it.  It would be nice to see someone get it who will appreciate it for what it is.  Go for it!  smile

I love that car especially the puke green colour. We had that same colour on our driving training 74 LeMans supplied by Rumble Pontiac Buick when I did my training at Leaside High. We can always find excuses but I had six cars for a while this summer and believe me, living in the heart of Toronto and finding parking for that mini fleet is not an easy situation. On the first day of school two of mine got tickets right beside my house for over time parking, what a P'off. Maybe I can convince someone I know to buy it.

Velour

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A pink velour bathrobe made of 100% polyester

Velour or velours is a plush, knitted fabric or textile. It is usually made from cotton but can also be made from synthetic materials such as polyester. Velour is used in a wide variety of applications, including clothing and upholstery.

Frequent uses

Velour is a knitted fabric, allowing it to stretch. It combines the stretchy properties of knits such as spandex with the rich appearance and feel of velvet. Velour is used in dance wear for the ease of movement it affords, and is also popular for warm, colorful, casual clothing. When used as upholstery, velour often is substituted for velvet. Velour is also widely used in the manufacture of theater drapes and stage curtains. Velours used for this range from 16oz per linear yard to 32oz per linear yard[citation needed] (0.5 - 1.0 kg/m). In the last decade, velour has been used for pillow covers and mattress coverings. Luxury memory foam mattresses usually come outfitted with Jacquard velour covers, for their comfort and elasticity, as well as their flame resistance. Cotton velour is treated with flame retardant chemicals when used in this application.[citation needed] In contrast, many lower-end air mattresses come manufactured with velour sleeping surfaces.

Nothing compares to those plush Velour interiors from the mid 70's luxo barges! It wouldn't be hard to wake up that 455 either. I have a magazine with a 72 Electra pulling the front wheel..

My wifes father drove a big Electra and so did a friend in universaity. You can not beat these cars for ride and this coming from a Cadillac guy. I doubt you would need more power, 455 can burn lots of rubber even in a car that size.

Wife's dad would let me drive him to the cottage after he closed up his resturant on the Danforth on Saturday nights, well Sunday mornings really, before we were married. The darn car had a speed reminder. He was generous with it usually set it a just over 140 kph, but the second I'd hit it he wake up and give it to me. He called me Rye-co and he would say " Rye-co easy easy" then fall back asleep. I could usually make the 2 1/4 hour trip in 90 minutes at that time of night.

Todd, you and I share the passion for one of those Electras. I've dreamed of one of those since I worked at the Buick dealer in the mid 70's. We sold a few of those but never see them around anymore. Absolutely beautiful cars, tons of room, etc.

The best  thing about these big Buicks is the horn. Sounds like a CN frieght train coming through. If any of you guys are in salvage yards and see these, grab the horns, big Caddys also have similar horns.

I used to own a 73 LeSabre 2-door ... loved the fact that you could swing open the passenger-side (barn) door on it, and knock people off the sidewalk!

It had a navy velour interior ... ahhhhh!biggrin
